I'm sorta lost on this one. Whats the question?
Or did you confuse NEW THREAD with NEW POST and by mistake ask a question that belongs to a different thread?

See subject, He wants to know about hotline.
I just looked at it briefly. I may be mistaken but it seems to be classic client-server, not p2p at all. All file uploads and downloads go to the servers.

Another often forgotten tool is Hotline. Set up a Hotline Server on your PC, and give your friends who will participate a copy of the client. You'll have FTP, chat and newsgroup features all in one tool. The company is no longer around, but you can still get the server and client from many freeware sites.

Its what we used before napster. It was a pain to get anything unless you knew who ran the server. Almost everything was passworded and to get the passwords you had to signup with some ad sites/sex crap and look for like the 10th word 2nd line, and it didnt work half the time. Or you could upload a file they wanted/didnt have to get acess. Had alot of mac users too.

Thats what was used to find servers with the files you wanted that weren't passworded/had guest downloading.
I thought it was dead...
