I downloaded a movie file from kazaa lite an avi-file with divx-codec. I installed de divx codec and it worked perfectly in windows mediaplayer. Then I copied the file from the My Shared Folder to another directory so I could alter the file and put it on a cd-r. But after moving the file it won't work anymore, I can't open it, can't move it to another directory. I get the message that de file is in use or that de drive is write-protected. I tried to reboot the computer no result, what did I do wrong

Why post the same thing twice? Anyway, make sure that kazaa is not running.

Taking a screen shot of the error message would be a big help.

Some program is still trying to use the movie, make sure ALL programs are shut off, including kazaa, wmp, and any background services you might have running

Can you play or acess the original? if so, delete the new one, then try copying it again, and don't try to play the copy

I've same problem moving my AVI files, what I do is copy the file(s) to another folder then use MoveOnBoot to delete the file on next time you boot, or use MoveOnBoot to move the file if you going to reboot anyway. It will also rename the AVI file on next boot because AVI file is write protected.

In Explorer, in the directory where the file is located, go to VIEW, and change the view to LIST.

Right click the file and hold down the right button for about 15 seconds, and chose Cut or Copy, then right click where you want the file to be, see if you can Paste it in there.

Exactly how did you "alter" that file? Files have headers and footers for a reason, especially media files.
