Is it possible to salvage a Hard Drive after a crash, or is it....:tol ? I can Boot in Dos until it asks for 'the disc"...which was pro installed. Then, it's all swear words...lol
Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing freezes, and just wierd shtuff on their systems? My Hubby set me up w/a 98SE and he's even dealing with probs on his Dell.
Any 'nice' feedback would be Great. Peace

hmm, nice to see a new person on zp. but to save a drive? with no disc? i dunno... id say try to take it to somebody who can hook it up as a slave drive and run some diagnostics... other than that... never had too many probs with winxp... but, i do see the occasional problem. like folder settings, and severe slowdowns... nasty.

This could be virus related. It is "possible" to reinstall windows back on top of itself, without losing your data, however, if it is virus laden, what's the point?

Unless you deem your data worth the time and risk to reinstall, and then virus scan, I would just fdisk and start new.

Start at the basic level, install windows, then your drivers. Then back it all up.

Then install apps and do another restore point.

There are a lot of options, it depends on how much you want to spend in time or money, and your level as a computer user.

To be Honest, everything I know I have taught myself by T & E.
I did have to take the old one, (not my Hubby, altho the pic I used does resemble him...lol) in twice for my 'learning.' But, it was after I was on Kazaa Lite that it took a dump. I will have to try your suggestions and I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

i found some nice pics of gauge (the girl in the avatar), sized them to 100x100 by resizing or cropping, and then used 'unfreez' to create the 'animated gif' (available at www.webattack.com, just search for it...) and then uploaded it.
