Quick question...did the developer of Kazaa Lite have to actually get into the installer to adust the components in the app. ?
Wouldn't Sharman get ticked at this?

It seems with all the hype about ES5 that they are going to need beta testers to debug thier P2P. Ask Zarkov or Kabair

LOL! I was reformatting and reinstalling windows, so I actually tried it, es5 beta that is. I was curious to see what the hype was all about. Well if you really want to F#@% up your computer, just install es5. It has more errors than results! It appears to be oriented around porn and the user interface was flashing with distracting lights that would be annoying to a child. I couldn't uninstall it either. I was instructed to go to run/regedit and manually remove it. I found it left lots of entries behind after rebooting. I would advise staying away from this one unless you really want to goof up your machine. If you're reinstalling windows like I did, then you got nothing to lose.

Apart from your statement that "es5 as we all know its crap", is an opinion, if there is a new BETA release of ES5, it will be posted about here.
Thats the whole point of the thread, isn't it?

I stated mere fact. I don't have an "attitude". I dislike ES5 with a passion, but even I must comment on a bullshit post such as yours. Attitude has nothing to do with the topic of this forum. I mean, wouldn't you expect someone to post a BETA release of ES5 in this forum? Makes sense don't it.
Have a Nice Day!

Well it does make sense.. but I see no point in making ONE single post about the beta.. if it was an ongoing discussion in this thread I would understand.. but its not and this WAS an old thread..
You have a nice day also!

I develop a Gnutella client called Nova (http://novap2p.sourceforge.net/). Its open source and free of adware, spyware, etc.
Id really appreciate anyone trying it and giving me feedback on anything such as bugs, suggestions or advice.
The feedback link can be found on the website I posted above.

hey nova... i like your prog... i like it alot.
just a few suggestions:
1. i don't see any connection info...
2. the client is a tad on the huge scale (4mb?)
3. gnutella... ehh, not the worst, not the best either.
and for the compliments:
1. ONE OF THE NICEST GUI'S I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG LONG TIME
2. the integrated chat is a good feature
3. being entirely free, you are totally excused for suggestion #3.
4. being entirely free, you get 1 brownie point.
5. did i mention great gui?

Thanks isus, to answer your suggestions the next version (1.8final) will have:
-A list showing what ultrapeers you're connected to (90% done).
-Removal of unnecessary files to decrese the download size (ive saved over 500KB so far).
As well as that there will be a few minor enhancements to the gui etc and lots of bug fixes. It should be out with a week or two.
The issue with using Gnutella is in the works. Id like to implement G2 or eDonkey support but its very difficult and its the first time ive attempted something this complicated (im a complete newbie when it comes to sockets). I am trying to get support for another network for the 2.0 release.
However id like to point out Gnutella has been improving significantly ever since Morpheus started using GnucDNA . The majority of Gnutella clients now support full partial file sharing (etc etc).

You can check out PeerBuddy.com also (no, not the firewall). They are experimenting with some intersting ideas (appearently they want to eventually create a 3D accelerated interface, and are coming out with a 3D viewable diagram of their network very soon).

OK first of all I'd like to say that the build of ES5 1257 WORKS I had no errors and have been running it 24/7. You have been told in the ES5 forums to RESET your settings when you UPDATE ES5 nuff. It don't resure and that is what I bitch about nuff said about that.
Now for the second part of what I want to ad to the thread and that is why should I use an app like Fast Track, Direct Connect, Edonkey when it has been POSTED many times in the NEWS that these are the VERY networks that the RIAA is monitoring? Would it not be wise to start developing p2p apps with PROXY support? Morpheus did it now that ES5 did it first and I have to say that I'll use Morpheus even though it is a crappy Gnutilla client to save my ass from harms way. C'mon people I know there has got to be a way for us to use the apps we like with PROXY support. I'd go back to Kazaa if I could get a app with PROXY support. Please someone make a HACK of Kazaa, Imesh, Fileshare, Grokster anything with random PROXY support. There are talented people here on ZP that could code this in instead of PG wich is a waste and has been proven to be one because the RIAA obviously cought a K-Lite user.

What does being a k-lite user have to do with peerguardian?

I think he is referring to the newest version of K++ that has PG incorporated in it. However we do not know that this person was using the new K++ or one of the previous versions.
I do agree though that PG does not garantee safety

That is what I ment. Also if other apps would have PROXIES besides Morpheus I'd never advertise ES5 again. The ONLY reason I use es5 is cuz of proxies. If they made sharing of copyrighted meterial lagal I'd go back to Shareza or K++ and drop es5. Was able to find way more stuff there then I find on ES5. I'd continue to Download from their movie site however and also their crack part of the forum and maybe post a few things but as far as the functionality of ES5 I don't like it cuz you can't resume. People have told the staff and still no resume. It gets frusterating when you are almost done with a file and it starts over again. So at least Morpheus does not do that and it has proxy support. Can't wait till Morpheus gets G2 support cuz then I'd run it 24/7 with anonymous proxies. So to sum it all up ALL I WANT IS proxy support and then I'll be happy with K++ again.

Vudoo..
I agree with you on the resume..I dont care if it resumes "in the background"
I want it to keep downloading RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES just like ANY OTHER program out there..I dont care about "background"
As for the security of morpheus goes, I heard it sucks ass because it only works on the download side and not upload side...which sucks as downloading doesn't matter..uploading does

For a lot of them just the use the find option in regedit an type "es5" and let it search for them. There will be a good number them (I found a bunch when I did it) so keep searching until nothing comes up.

Considering said extensive insight, it is with highest interest of this author that any contributers or perusers of this thread and/or subject use extreme logic in deciding whether or not to engage in the process known as P2P.
