Hey, this is my first post here and I have a serious problem. I had previously been a Kazaa 2.0 abuser for quite awhile....all of a sudden one day after downloading something my computer completely locked up, all I could do was hit the power button to restart. About 20 seconds after the computer finished booting up Windows ME it would freeze again. A friend said I should boot in safe mode and delete Kazaa, which I did, and the computer started to run again. I did not want to use Kazaa again in fear that it would lock my computer up, so I started using other crappy P2P programs without the computer locking up. I noticed that Kazaa had a newer version, so I wanted to try that in hopes that it may work. After installing the program and choosing not to have Kazaa start upon computer startup, (I think that's why the previous version would lock up on startup), the program starts to connect and then locks up again, everytime. I do not know why this has only recently started, but I feel that the problem lies within the startup of Kazaa.
I am running a 1.4Ghz Athlon Amd processor, 40gig hd with 10gigs free, Windows Me, 383MB memory, cable modem without a firewall.
Please help, I want my Kazaa back.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
don

First of, uninstall Kazaa and delete the kazaa file from Windows explorer. If you have RegCleaner you can clear all registry keys from kazaaaaa. Then get Spybot from HERE (http://spybot.eon.net.au/) and delete all the files that are listed after the search. At last, download KazaaLite from HERE (http://doa2.host.sk/) and use that. That is Kazaa without all the crap files that mess your PC.

Forget KaZaA with all the ads and SPYWARE plus it has alot of junk/ Crap. Just go out and get KaZaA Lite. It is the same as KaZaA but WITHOUT all the ads and all the crap that comes with KaZaA. I been using KaZaA Lite and like alot. go to

http://doa2.host.sk/

and click on Download on the left hand side of the web page, then click on one of the KaZaA download Links that states KaZaA Lite 2.1.0 (K++ edition) and download IT.

And get rid of ME while you're at it. That stuff is garbage. I had it for a couple weeks after I bought my computer, and I couldn't stand it. XP runs stable as tug boat.

Thanks for the tips, I'm gonna go ahead and try them. I just got done using Spybot and I can't believe how much spyware was on my system. I'll go ahead and download Kazaa Lite and hopefully that will solve the problem.

thanks

Windows ME is a virus.

All your problems would probably go away if you did a clean install of 2k or XP. They're easy to "buy."
