The new Ver. 3.22 definitely takes too much of CPU resources (unlike the previous versions)! Has anybody noticed that? If someone has WinMX email, please notify them of this major bug.

Thanx

even on secondary connection?

Switching to Secondary Connection does the trick. But still it's a bug to fix!

I agree. Way too much cpu is used for 3.22. i constantly run at 100% and can't do anything else while it's running. I used to leave it running all the time for others to grab what they wanted, but now I can't. It's very aggravating!

Thanks Nikki
I hadn't realized it but when I monitored my CPU under Resources I found WinMx used a consistant 62-75 % of CPU resources. Thats way too high. I hadn't noticed it because I only used the computer for WinMx and my FTP server. Whereas my ftp server is DLing 2 files and Uploading one it uses 2 -3 % of CPU resources.

I have the secondary setting selected as well .

Also I did notice that when I lowered the thread priority to "lowest" setting which is just above "idle" , and then tested the results by opening my IE web browser it opens so much quicker, whereas before it was slow to open. So, this may be the solution temporarily to allow other Applications to utilize the CPU ahead of WinMx. But this doesn't affect the percentage of CPU usage as a percentage of the whole it just allows other Apps to have a higher priority of CPU resources when needed I think. I hope others will comment and let me know if I am making sense or not. It makes sense to me with what limited knowledge I have on the subject , which IS limited I definitely agree.
Thanks
Wilder

I have noticed 3.22 uses alot less than 3.1 which isnt good still ., but a good improvement , especially with a stone age p2 computer

I discovered that what really slows down my computer to a crawl is when running as a PRIMARY connection AND using Zone Alarm running as a firewall.

Since ZA already has a reputation of being a processor hog, switching to a more resource-frendly firewall software like Tiny Personal Firewall might speed things up a lot. Or better yet, using a hardware-based firewall like a router. (I know, I probably should try Tiny first myself before recommending it to others)

I changed the throttle process all the way up to 1 second. It still runs at 85-95%, but at least I can navigate thru the program without constant hang ups.

I have an "old" Pentium Pro with 64mb ram on a cable connect that I use as a P2P server dedicated on my network, I have found that if I use a program called Maxmem that is available as freeware from analogx my sys rarely goes below 75% even after hours of run time, this is a GREAT memory managment program and should be used, until they get around to addressing the memory consumption issue. I have implemented this approach on many of my friends comps as well with great results, give it a try it can't hurt.

here is the program if you want to give it a try:
