Best CD Manufacturer?

Seems that CDs which play without a blip on my home system skip like hell when being ripped. I have tried Disc Dr. with some improvement but generally I can't get around small scratches on either my home or work PC's CD player. Anyone have a favorite Manufacturer/Model??? There must be sites dedicated to this subject, but I'll be damned if I can find them.

My home system does have an optical digital out, but then CDDB is tanked as well as digital ripping speeds.

I have 400 CDs I want to burn... contribute to the cause!!!

i'm not sure what you're talking about, if you mean like what's a good blank CD company brand, then my choice is TDK. they look nice, and i got an awesome deal on them, 100 for $15. :shy but i can't say they're the best quality, because i haven't really tried any others.

TDK and Meledy are top. Sony Pro Are Great For Important Docs Etc cuz they can take a beating

mean hardware, not media. I have older CDs that play fine in the home system but when I burn them I get lots of skips. Are there better PC CD players for ripping?

i think i had a similar program to u. i have a CD ROM drive 48X and a DVD RW. ripping some cds from the ordinary cd drive caused blips, repeated beats, skips etc so i now record all cds from my DVD RW. not sure whether its just the DVD is a slower read speed or a higher quality manufacturer (NEC as opposed to cheap CD ROM drive) try setting the CD read speed to something slower than MAX and see if that helps.

Plextor and LiteOn are considered the best Cd burners if thats what your asking.

you hit the nail on the head. I brought home a DVD player to rip from as opposed to using my CD Burner as the source. Ripped the same troublesome track from the burner and the then from the DVD player. The DVD had no distortion while the same track from the burner had all sort of crackling and pops. Thanks for the heads up!!!! Now I'm going to give it a try on some other known nasty CDs.

You also might want to try burning at a SLOWER speed, when maxed out most modern burners do a crappy job of audio copy

I use CloneCD, I set it at the highest audio setting, add some error correction, and I get perfect copys every time

TDK gets my vote yo. I've tried alot of different kindz but that's tha only one so far that'll work in my car's CD player.

a while back there was a news article on zeropaid about making quality mp3s without blips or skips etc and it suggested using exact audio copy. its a good program but if you have a slow drive its terible as it keeps reading the disk till it gets a perfect rip so a fast drive and exact audio copy are what work well for me.
