Has anyone received their latest update from Symantec? I have auto-update enabled and when it wouldn't update on Wednesday (the day it normally does), I became worried. I tried to do it from within the program as well. I kept getting an error message and now it is Sunday, which means it is long overdue. Is the Live Update server down right now? Thanks for the help.

PS: I've done this with literally nothing else running too except an open internet connection and callwave and such. And I've tried multiple times. I'm running Norton 2002. And isn't can not spelt "cannot"? You will see what I mean with the attached pic.

Well, I have had no problem with my updates, but I have disabled automatic update. Mine are always done manually, as I hate that extra stuff running.

i ran it about an hour ago...didn't seem to be any problems...maybe try reinstalling?

I heard they would dicontinue service for 2002 soon, maybe get 2003 pro from your friendly online store ;)

Update works right now for me

A complete reinstall may help you, I'll check to see if norton has any FAQ's

Just had a thought, go to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html and get the manul updates

Your subscription may be out of date, but I think it just tells you that...

Yeah, I guess my best bet would be to reinstall. It's only gonna be the 5th or 6th time but what the hell. BTW, when u reinstall your subscription service starts all over, lol. Trust me, I've had experience and I even pointed it out to the Norton crew and I think I mentioned it in a thread, but that was long ago.

Hell, I can't even get the executable to work now. But just as a note, I'm almost 100% SURE that I was still viable for updates, meaning the subscription WAS NOT up.

PS: Sorry for my slow response, but my email updater thing doesn't work quite so well sometimes. Thanks for all help and I shall not need any further assistance at this time, unless something else pops up. Thank you again.

Cannot is not (isnot?):upside a word. It's two words!
BTW NAV2K2 liveupdate works for me. I set all of my software to manual update. I'm a control freak!:black Had a Trojan dropper slip past auto-protect though. Found it on my last scan. It's a new Trojan detected only by latest virus definitions. Fastrack is so infected I wear a condom when I'm P2P-ing!:goodjob

my subscription service is valid for a long long long long time. i doubt the liveupdate servers will still be running when my subscription expires....

and yeah i don't run automatic liveupdate either. i prefer to keep my pc a lean mean fighting machine.

Am, is, or are, not able; -- written either as one word or two.

if ur subscription is up you get a different error, i remember it says something about it cant find the server (ud think theyd put a link to buy another year's worth lol)

anyway i wouldnt know anymore, i gave up on norton it dint work proper for me on winxp an its a resource hog, i used avg pro for a long time but then the developers stopped the usage of the key i was usin, i tried nod32 but that stopped workin for sum reason and now im usin panda. i like it, its very fast.

@nasrules. i admit norton is a bit bloaty but to be honest my pc can handle it. still takes about 5 seconds to load from the taskbar though. the firewall is good except for the fact i can't figure out how to enable referers for specific sites.

Ok, I don't know what the hell happened. I reinstalled Norton and it's still giving me the same error message. I guess I have to stick to Intelligent Updater from now on.

Yeah, I paid for Norton SystemWorks the legal way too. They shouldn't make ppl upgrade and end subscriptions after you've been a loyal customer and the technology is there to continue updating. But damn on 56k that's gonna take an eternity. (only pondering the fact of course, hehe)

I have a slow connection so I'll probably find the trial version in some magazine and then *cough* buy it *cough*

Huh this IS kind of strange.I did a fresh W2K install last night/this morning and in between ZZZ's I had to use the Live Update 3 times to finally get my NAV2002 completely caught up.(On 56k)But not once did any registration requests come up like they have in the past.I'm thinking maybe 2002 is getting close to the end of life date and they don't care.It was a reformatted hard drive though-I wonder if they are reading MAC info now.
My script runs out in about a month, not that I've used Norton much lately.But........... Maybe I'll go to Best Buy and take advantage of the $30 rebate offer for upgrades on 2003.Or is the upgrade $20?Well anything to save a buck I say.I just wish they was an easier way than driving in the snow.Sigh--maybe some day there will be an alternative.

Edit:Actually it was Systemworks w/ Goback-not just NAV.But there was like 8 or 10 megs of LIve Registration crap I had to d/l----but they never had me submit anything.Gotta be the MAC address.I was even on a different ISP.

If you go to this address and dowload the latest live update software, it will uninstall the old and install the new version. this will fix the current error that many have been getting (as was the case for Rahwgwar) Good luck!

Working fine hear.

Dude d/l that "Norton Live Update Til Year 2041", and you won't have to worry about your subscription running out.

I got it from a "Bittorrent" client. Might be on other clients, too
Just make sure you get the serial key, too
