What is the best program to burn iso files with?
I am using Windows XP and so compatibilty with a lot of the Burning programs seems to be a problem. Is there a way to burn .iso files using windows?.Probably not, Microsoft definately won't like most .iso files.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Will try Ezcdcreator, with XP update. IsoBuster is not a burner for .iso's as I thought. Its not even as good as WinISO which i personally prefer to use to open .iso files.

yeh i use winiso, although i recently used isobuster to make a cd bootable by extracting the boot process or something (i was slipstreaming sp1a into winxp).

does anybody know of a way to make clonecd burn iso's? it only seems to do ccd's :-(

Alcohol brings new meaning to the word multimedia! It is without a doubt a leader in its class, bringing the ability to emulate and record CD's and DVD's together into one amazingly easy to use software program.

Using the latest technology the program is constantly being developed and improved to add in new features allowing it to maintain its position as a leading software package.

Imagine being able to store your most used CD's as images on your computer and then just call them up at the click of a button and run them at 200X the speed of some CD drives when you need them without requiring the CD itself. How about being able to make a backup of that CD on to another CD either using the CD itself or just using the image you've made of it. This is what alcohol allows you to do and much more.

Alcohol 120% sounds like a cool all in one pack, for all my needs and seems to specifically say that I can burn .iso, .bin and .cue files. Will try as soon as possible...i give u my results soon.

One Word: Nero. Period. Dont listen to these ppl recommending ez cd creator, cause it sucks. Use Nero.

ez cd creator is a good program. its just not as full-featured as nero. its more for the every-day user or the newbie.

as for programs, if its somthing you need for your pc, maybe you could just mount the image with daemon tools. saves a disc and the time spent burning it.

Can't say I have had much luck with Nero in the past.

Is it now compatible with Windows XP?

As for just making an image an using Daemon tools (which i already knowabout, and which i do like), i wanna make a cd copy so that if, in the unlikely event that my computer crashed, i would still have all my progs.

p.s thanks for all the suggestions

Just out of curiousity. What programs have you tried that haven't been compatible with XP? I've never had any problems.

WRONG! everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. dont get me rong, im not sayin i dont like nero, its jus that ezcd does everything i need it to do (and besides that, nero wont install on my pc)

i hope thats an opinion. i am certainly NOT a newbie as i hope u realise. if i wanna make an audio cd: i can do it in ezcd. if i wanna make a data cd: i can do it in ezcd. if i wanna make a video or photo cd: i can do it in ezcd.

the one thing it cannot do is make 1:1 copies. but then neither can nero, an anyway theres clonecd to do that!

I doubt that anyone here thinks you are a newbie.

Now that weve established why opinions are like assholes, does anyone bother to go to the Microsoft website to check for compatability issues?

The Nero vs EZ CD thing has been done to death. ALL of them will write from an ISO if you are both lucky, and tenacious. I can write FROM an iso image, in XP, without ever having installed Roxio, ISO Buster, Alchohol or Nero !

As with religion and politics, theres not an absolute right or wrong, just a lot of different experiences. So if some people swear by Roxio, I cant deny their first hand success stories.

Really like the look of Alcohol 120%, Gonna try and make my cd tommorow, ill let u know how I can get on.

Also the program I have had problems with in the past are Ezcdcreator 3 or 4 and Nero 5, which would not let me install under XP and cdrwin v3.5 (i think). Krell I take it your point was that I could extract the .iso file and then burn the cd by copy and pasting the files. I know this may be able to be done but I wanted to have a program I could just simple burn the cd straight from the .iso. Just my personal preference.

Nope. I mean, you have an ISO that you want to burn, you right click and SEND TO the CD drive, or just drag to the drive, and it burns, a no brainer.

I have tried that method and it does not work, all i get is a copy of the .iso file that will only load up in my WinISO program (i.e just a copy of the burnt file).

I have not tried that alcohol app but I have read good reviews. It is made by some of the same programers that originaly worked on CDMate and that is another good burning app.

If you want a very simple application that burns iso's you might try Fireburner. Also Blindwrite is very good and fairly simple. All that I named will do the trick.

I have used all of them and tend to like fireburner and blindwrite the best.

sure nero will burn bins no prob but if u cant use nero for whatever reason try Fireburner or Cdrwin both of these programs main purpose is burning bins although i have found a lot of cd drives dont work with cdrwin so i would say try fireburner first

cheers for that tip krell, i didn't know u could do that. as for this whole thread, i use both nero and ez cd creater. i use the disc copier for copying disks (no brainer there) and i use nero for compilations, isos etc. this is my personal choice. the newest version of nero is XP compatiable and definitely burns isos. if this isn't the case for u, i suspect that something else is causing the problem.

Ok, when I get more CD-Rs I will try out Alcohol 120%.

Thanks for all the help.

Also, is it possible to make .iso of Playstation 2 games, I would think it is. Any info would be great.

bins were created by cdrwin (i think)

Alcohol 120% can make images of Playstation Games, only they are .mdf files, but that should not make a difference as these types of file should be able to be burned by the program.
