I know how you feel in regards to AG being gone now. I also got lot's of rare and obscure music from them.
I don't think anything can compare to it right now. But in time I am sure someone will fill the gap.
I use a handfull of apps to find music. I want to give edonkey a mention, I never used to like it, but have come to appreciate it. Especially since you can download complete albums and cd's which is a hassle using any other application.
It's best for large files and it is as it sounds, sometimes slow but pods along and gets the job done. It is stable and there is a large communiity behind it. Try it, go to filenexus.com or sharereactor and check out the music.
right now the fasttrack network is huge which means you have a chance at finding what you like, try kazzalite or clean imesh. I have been mostly using clean imesh and edonkey and getting more music that I ever did. Over a gig a day if I don't just stop!
In fact I do stop, because I am running out of space and need to burn 4 or 5 cd's a day.

depends.
I use Winmx regularly for popular music and from more popular bands i get least 1,500 hits and good selection with highest bitrates that i know of of the filesharing programs. It does take a little getting used to as the set up can be awkward at first but once u get the hang of it u understand whay the programers set it up like they have. For Techno Music i like i use Soulseek it's almost a Napster like setup but u can have good access to underground and artists. Both are available at their hrespective home sites at winmx.com and soulseek.com.
