See, you drive down the road on your Harley minding your own business, your stereo is blaring Motörhead. Then you stop at a red light, like every half-baked normal human. Suddenly a SWAT team jumps out of a Blackhawk, and before you even grasped what's happening, you're under arrest for failing to pay royalties. Your crime? You played a performance in front of pedestrians, whether any were present or not. That's the kinda stuff the RIAA would do.

The RIAA is trying to stop something that has no real negative affect on them.. or such a small effect.. but compared to the big picture, it's not doing a damn thing to them.

No wait, it is. In fact, I think it is having a positive on their business. Just yesterday my friend downloaded a few songs (I'm not going to say the name), and liked it so much he went out and bought their newest CD.

The only reason the RIAA cannot grasp the potential of P2P, is because it is not under their direct control.. and therefore a possible threat to their business. Being the avid American business men they are, they are trying to monopolize the enter scheme of things and thereby burying P2P.

We, the users, do not really want this to happen.. and that's why there is so much anti-RIAA sentement here at Zeropaid (and alot of other places). Or at least I think so... :wings

it's not about just music, it's about privacy, association, and freedom from an overbearing government. will you take the red pill or the blue pill. RIAA is a tool of satan.

They are spending millions of dollars on servers and computers and employees and lawyers, lawsuits, and other legal stuff, they pollute P2P networks, they screw people for hosting hubs, if they had made their own P2P prog that was free, and just have used ads, they would have easily offset their losses, if any. Most of what they lose is from fighting piracy, having conferences about it and stuff. They are destroying the world we live in for nothing, if it keeps going like it is, they will go out of business, and by then P2P will be so full of bogus files you won't even recognize it.

It's because they treat people who fileshare and burn CDs like criminals.

It's also because of the propaganda they use to get laws passed in their favor.
For example, they blame piracy for a drop in sales, but the truth is they released a lot less albums in recent years. According to their own sales figures, they are making more money per album than ever, despite an economic recession. For the numbers go to http://www.azoz.com/music/features/0008.html

I have hard time believing this question (subject of thread) is actaully serious.
If it is though enough people have responded with the appropiate answers so no point repeating.
