I just installed the latest Ares (build 2892).
My problem is it never successfully connects. I'm behind a little SMC firewall, which I configured to leave a few ports open for WinMX.
I've been trying different "ports" under preferences in Ares, but it doesn't tell you which is the Incoming TCP setting, or the In/Out UDP setting. There is a 3rd setting that claims to be Incoming TCP, but it always reverts back to port 80 whenever I change it. Need more info.
Anybody else have this problem?

I found out you have to restart Ares for the port changes to take effect, but it still never connects. I've tried port 8888, 6699, 80, then I turned my firewall off, still no connection.

I am able to connect.

I believe Ares tries to use

UDP/IP: port 2627

TCP/IP: port 2634

Try those ports if you can.

Still nothing. Used TCP port 2634, UDP port 2627. Even with NAT turned off. Never connects. The Ares website forum has many similar posts of Ares first working fine, then not connecting. Is the protocol for Ares somehow limitied?

Get this.
Didn't change any settings.
Thought I'd give Ares one last try.
Suddenly it works.
Fast searches, but only about 6,000 users, with 2.8 million files. I'd love to know what the hell was going on. I also like the interface so much I'd like to see how well it works with more users. Give it a test guys.
