Hello all
I have version 3.2 of WinMX, and am running ZoneAlarm 2.6.362. At the moment, I have no downloads and no uploads in progress. I am not connected to any OpenNap protocol networks. But according to the bandwidth graph, a lot of uploading and downloading bandwidth is still being used. It's being used by something called "WPN primary". What is this? What's causing it to be used? Am I being hacked?

when someone does browse your share folder or do a search on the other side for something you have, trasmission of that info takes part your bandwidth, I think...

You are not being hacked! Anyone with a primary connection is carrying the overhead to keep the network going (for searches, for example) and for all secondary users (who connect via you for searches and arranging transfers, but not for the actual DL; that "S=" line in the top left tells you how many are connected to you).
That eats up bandwidth both in and out, but the network needs it to function. Take a look at the "Win MX Peer Network" in the Settings, the *lowest* setting is 7KB out and 10.5KB in (as a max, may be less at any given point). I suspect you could see it on the "Bandwidth" tab graph if I could tell which color was what.
The advantage to you, is that your searches work better and your connections are much less likely to get dropped if you are a primary user. And, of course, helping there to be a network at all.
I wonder how many people with primary connections know this?
I wonder how many of the 56kers know that the system runs on the broadband users' bandwidth?

Good point Buzz_ny. They should put that stuff on FAQ on winmx site (if they ever put one up that is!!!), or at leas explain it better in winmx setup.
