According to Vinnie!

It is worth noting that UTC (Unite The Cows) accepts advertisements from Piolet, an application which distributes the Xupiter browser plug-in. This plug-in made headline news for being notoriously difficult to remove, and for updating itself at whim to evade efforts at eradication.

It is also worth noting that Zeropaid promoted Piolet.

I would avoid BOTH web sites (Zeropaid and Unite The Cows), because they seem to have some serious ethical problems.

Before anyone starts criticising BearShare for containing (one) bundled adware product, let me please direct you to the following:

At the end of the day, bills have to be paid. Zeropaid, Unite The Cows, and BearShare are all in the same boat - we need money to survive. Its how we go about making that revenue and staying in the black that determines our level of ethics and morals.

Let the record show how the two web sites above, and Free Peers, Inc. have treated their users.

Vinnie has since withdrawn his comments and apologised. This is copied directly from our forums:

Apologies
Please accept my apologies for blaming Piolet for installing the Xupiter plugin. I read a comment on Slashdot that implied Piolet also bundled the product. I did not verify it by installing it, and I have no real evidence other than hearsay.

I would also like to retract my comments regarding Unite The Cows - clearly since Piolet does not distribute the Xupiter plugin there is no impropriety.

As for the developers of Piolet, I appreciate that they have taken the time to join the Gnutella developer community (the GDF) and impart their comments and wisdom, even though their application doesn't operate on the public Gnutella network.
