yes, i personally use Download Accelerator Plus... www.speedbit.com

i'm sure many others here use them, and after they post you'll have a variety to try out.

I don't use a download accelerator, because I don't really see the need for it.

I know it does not actually increase the speed, and that it is good for resuming downloads.
But I'm on ADSL, so I really don't need resume functionality.

DAP actually does increase speeds. its not some BS magic, it makes (up to) 10 connections to multiple hosts of the particular file your DLing. that usually maxes out my connection when i use it, and Im on 512 cable.

Dap might be good, i have heard quite alot of good comments about it, but i have traditionaly stuck with ReGet Deluxe (www.reget.com). Its juz that im so used to it, i never really bothered to try others (except for Gozilla, hated that).

DAP is good, just make sure to run spybot after installing it, then its all good, registering it makes it better to.........but I don't know how to do that ;)

If you want good info on this, SEARCH THE FORUMS! please, I've seen so many of these threads lately, all of them had good info

I've used pretty much all of the popular ones, my favorites were FlashGet and LeechGet (http://www.leechget.de/)... but then I got broadband, and most of my downloads are from UseNet, FTP, and P2P... and all I download from the web is a quick program here and there. So, d/l managers became useless to me. LeechGet was probably my favorite, once they fixed the memory leaks... and it's freeware.

****Warning ****
Download accelerators keep track of the stuff you download. I tried to download a crack from a site and it said to disable the download accelerator program. Its probably because they keep a track of what you are downloading(not absolutely certain). But what I suggest is if you do any downloading such as cracks and the like dont even take the risk of another program that keeps records of your downloading. Just to keep it safe.

Like I said....run spybot, it removes the spyware, and the program still works

yeah... run spybot and your good to go. and the reason they tell you to disabel it is because they a) dont want you to be tying up all their bandwidth or b) they have configured their server(s) to not allow multiple connections from the same individual, and if you have a download accelerator on, you won't be able to connect at all. i've run into both situations, but ive never noticed DAP sending info about what i donwload.

Wasn't there a Thread about this same thing last week... do people ever search the threads before they ask questions or what?

Thank you. New to this Forum stuff, so, sorry I didn't know how to search the past posts. (or anything else for that matter) But thanks to those of you who weren't nitpicking, and saw fit to give some advice.
