Hello again, everybody. I want to thank all of the members who helped me with the Windows 98SE question a while back. I have another question that I need assistance with, please: There was a release last week of just the Windows Media Player 9 codecs. Is this safe to install? The reason that I am asking is because I know how much of a bear trap it is to install WMP9 completely, since they change the EULA, and give you no chance or way to uninstall it (for non-XP users). Thank you for your time, and help. Good-bye.

I tried for the life of me to explain once that WMP 9 is even MORE of a hog than WMP 7. If you are running W98se, I recomend you stick with the v7, and the codecs you can get from the Microsoft website.
Winamp has more than its share of war stories too. It really just depends on how much software you have installed, and what it is.
EDIT: SEVEN . . . 7 7 7 7 seven
I got in a hurry . .grrrr

Windows Media Player 8 is available on Windows 98? I thought it was XP only. Anyway, I'd suggest using WMP 7/6.4, or even n.player (http://www.samo.cz/nplayer/), then just install Nimo Codec Pack (http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html). I haven't had any problems playing any *.WMV files after doing that.

My last question was just a toss-up. I am running Windows 2000 Professional, really. I just got my hands on Win98SE, and I just wanted to hear thought from people better than me (which does not take much). Thank you for the link as well, Krell. I really appreciate it. I will "look into" WinAMP, even though of what you said. Yeah, I installed Nimo 9 (Beta), and it is absolutely fabolous. Nimo 8 messed me up a lot, even when I checked the codecs that I ONLY needed. Oh, well. Thank you again.
