I'm closing down--too much risk for me to shoulder

the MediaForce hounds are sniffing at my door, and i don't like it

i thought i could use a hub as a chat place, but almost nobody does that anymore--if nobody chats, what's the point? nobody has anything i want anymore, and i'm not putting my ass on the line for a bunch of people who only like me for my files, and don't care to know me

Hey Notbob, That's why I haven't been around much, my firewall has been logging some VERY strange stuff lately, sorry I missed the going away party!! I have more than I can listen to for the rest of my life anyway. I enjoyed your hub greatly, nice folks. Couple weeks ago I had 8 slots open and started to think about them targeting some poor guy with only 600 songs. Whoa, try 18,000. It's nice to say screw 'em but when you have a mortgage, etc. it's a whole different ball game. Maybe I'll see ya in a private hub.

Well, I hardly ever use DC to "chat". I'll talk a bit with somone i'm downloading/uploading to/from but not often. And yes, I only "like " users for there files. I'm a selfish bastard.

Oh well, do what you have to do to cover your ass I guess.

I can honestly say I didn't notice until you pointed it out. Oh well, post count means nothing seeing as how a lot were shitty, worthless posts.

Being as DC++ is opensource, I think it is alright if I ask...

Is there a spoof for DC++ that makes the hubs/bots or whatever think I am on normal DC? Cuz I hate getting banned just for the program I use.

Try BCDC++, it lets you emulate DC++ and DirectConnect proper. Fuck off stupid hub rules!

unless you know what to look for, which most decent ops do

it's totally easy to spot a bcdc client

of course i'm not telling you how
