WinMX Que Questions [Archive]

I have two questions:

1. Often I'll be qued and move to number one que, then instead of starting a download I get disconnected. The net I'm attempting to use is still online and when I attempt to connect again I'll fall back in que. Any ideas?

2. I'm attempting to download a specific file and I notice the my que position drops over the course of time. Any idea what's happening here?

#1 The user your dowloading from could be disconnecting you. Any time your diconnected, you fall back in line when you attemp again.. Sorry

#2 If your qued position is dropping that means your getting closer to your turn for an open slot... As people finish downloading a file from the user they drop off and you move up a slot.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure that it's the user disconnecting me. It's happened with several different users and I doubt that many people are trying to screw with other users.

Also, let me make myself clearer. When I say I drop down in que I mean that I fall from say 16 to 30. Any idea why that would be?

Its been awhile since I was on 56K but that did happen to me then. Is it a timed out ? Or a complete disconnect ?

On the que thing. I've never seen that happen ???
Maybe someone else has an answer. Don't give up on winmx. It's a great program. Takes some getting used to though. I did'nt like it when they closed down the older versions but got used to it again..
