All of these other p2p applications are good and zeropaid is the number 1 site to get p2p programs from. But I think that they should make their own program. Maybe if we encourage them, they could build one. It would be flooded with all of us.:shy

Yeah... then everything we download can be afflicted by empiredrm.com - If ZP fans make it, that's one thing, but if the 2 Chris's are behind it.. expect Cydoor ads, spyware, malware, stealware and datamining of sharers and their files for selling to the RIAA/MPAA/etc.. whatever makes money.

Sorry to be such a neg-head - But if u know the empiredrm thing, you'll understand why i'd be dubious of a ZP p2p app if ZP's owners were in charge of it. Made by the users for ZP.. yeah, that'd be kewl.

And no.. it's not a cheap-shot at those guys.. I appreciate ZP's existance and the work they've done on keeping it going, my point is.. how profit orientated would it be and to what cost for the user!!?

I don't know. I would rather have the ZP community spread all over the place in various p2p programs rather than becoming one big target for lawsuits and prosecution in one place.

Wow, Meth was too humble or otherwise not in the frame of mind to hawk his own p2p prog! It's a growing community made up mostly of ZP members (so far!). It's called XS, and current users have seen the program advance quite nicely. Swarming and multi-hub are planned but the program so far is great and very stable!

Get the newest release here (http://xs.fasthost.tv).

If it was a ZP hands off type of P2P where we could do sort of a direct transfer type P2P, it'd be pretty nice. The problem with filesharing today (as opposed to the Napster days) is that there is no comradery. People are just viewed as sources rather than people and therefore a lot more leeching goes on. Back in Napster days, leeching was unheard of for about 3 reason

1. It searched your whole hard drive for mp3s so it was a lot harder to hide them or whatever.

2. It had buddy lists and chat rooms and a lot better IMing.

3. Everyone had a common enemy (the RIAA) and there was a "steal as fast as you can" type of atmosphere.

If Zeropaid made a P2P, I believe it would have these 3 characteristics too. What would be cool is if there was a big chatroom that we were all in and we could request files, say episode "2x04" of Star Trek TOS, and then someone that has it could sned it to them in exchange for something else, sort of like IRC but not as easily hacked and more P2Pish.

No. This topic has been brought up in the past.

ZeroPaid making their own p2p program would put the current site and all the successes at risk because this would no longer be a portal site. All the other programs which this site depends on for their support would drop their support since they would all become competeing programs.

p2p programs shouldnt be competitive there all in it for the same reason except the ones with ads in and who wants those plus how many people use less than one application im sure most users would carry on using other clients as well.

Yep, and since ZP is based in Ca they'd probably be open to a nice ass reaming by the RIAA/MPAA and any other organization hell bent on killing P2P for good.

As a P2P portal with strict no warez crap type rules it's safe to say this place (as of now) is just like one big Napster-ish chat room without as much baseless banter. We help, share ideas, trade storys, but never trade file info! Let alone files...

So my answer is no ZP shouldn't waste their time making a P2P app just to get sued a month later....

Competition is critical. If there was no competition then no program would have any incentive to improve and make their program better than the other guys. Which i dont think it really matters if the program is commerical or not.

@acideater reinstaller ie.
@Sephiroth i think the main reason the p2p programs keep getting better is the riaa/mpaa. and all the programs are competing for is amount of users and as i said in my last post most people use more than one program

I have Absolute no problem With Zeropaid making their own P2P as long as they know how to ; ) and it does not have any spyware, ads etc.
If you think about it, its the best place to find P2P info so why not make a p2p software of their own.

i know, its illegal and all... but what if some zp programmers found some way into winmx or fast track? that would be interesting. otherwise, no. i dont think all of these 140,000 people would be interested in downloading it anyway. if you want 100,000 people, go to piolet.

*shrug* just my opinion.

that would be pretty kewl if zp could get into the winmx program. They would be able to change it and add my favorite (an audio player) like in my recent post about e-donkey/mule
