Hi, (i'm german, so excuse my english)

i tried several versions of kazaa and all use my whole CPU time, KMDv2.x is worst, it lacks 1 sec and works 1 sec, and the CPU usage is 100% all the time. Kazaa Lite is not that bad, it does not lack, but uses 100% CPU.

What causes this?

What can i do?

Greetings Fred;

oh i forgot: my Computer:
AMD Duron 1,3 GHZ
256MB Ram

Not much you can do. Maybe somone will say otherwise though.

it really depends on two things i have seen:

1. if you have a fast intenet connection, like broadband, you might be being used as a supernode, i think they are called in kazaa. there should be a setting to disable this.

2. another thing is, if you share a billion files, kazaa will go at them full speed to get them hashed. try sharing one folder, and running it for a few hours, then coming back and seeing.

you could always move to winmx. lol

dont download (or try and search or resume in the traffic field) too many things at once. at that processor speed, if I were you, Id limit it to about 7 or 8 tops, but you may have to play with that number some. anymore and you will use way too much clock cycles and memory.

also, what version of windows are you running? depending on, there are various things you can do to streamline your system and make it run just a bit (or alot, depending) more efficiently.

but yeah, Im guessing you have a broadband connection and would try to connect to a lot of files at once.... I know assumptions are dangerous and all but thats just what it seems like to me right now.

Try limiting your upload bandwithh, but don't turn it all off, i also believe there are 3rd party programs that can put limits on the percentage of bandwith that a single program uses. Another suggestion would be memory, when I had 128 MB, Kazaa was about 4 times slower than it is now that i have 256MB. SDRAM has gotten cheap so you might want to look at that.

i have found with 512megs of ram, p4 2.8 that kazaa also uses a lot of system resources. whilst d/l a file from 20+ users, kazaa was using up 300megs of RAM. so try limiting the number of users u r downloading from simaltanously. (registry setting needs to be changed, but i can't remember precisely which one).

also what gorphon and isus said.

PS d/l the k++ version of kazaa lite as that stops all the ads spyware etc which may free up some resources. (sorry i can'tr remember the link, having a bad day):hole
