hows about allowing us to "back" to the previous page.
i've noticed, by habit, that i can't do this in these forums.
i find it quicker loading than scrolling all the way back up to the title and clicking back into the main forum area after reading a post.
most forums abide by this standard and this is the only one i've found that doesn't.
not a big thing........just a pet peeve of mine here on ZP.
spank u........(yes, please) ;)

Thats a good idea, and if you scroll to the bottom of the page you should see contact us. That would be a good place to start with a suggestion about the site. Take care.

Interesting, I use the same as you IE6, and this is the feed back area, but if you have a question, or a suggestion for the site, at times it might be a good idea to send it to the administration. As they cant read every post on here. Just a thought. Also if anyone else has a idea about what is the problem, just jump in and give her a hand.

It's a firewall issue! or add-blocker!
Cause, i didn't have a firewall, i always had to click back 3 times before it would let me go back!, but when i installed my firewall, the problem was resolved, i don't know if it was my firewall, or the adblocker, but the problem was fixed!

Popup stoppers and your browser security setting can both affect the behavior of IE.
In IE, Go to Tools > Options > Security > Medium, the to Programs Tab > RESET WEB SETTINGS, ( deselect reset homepage) then to the Advanced Tab, RESTORE DEFAULTS.
This is a good all inclusive once-over.
Try this, close IE, relaunch and see if it helps. If it didnt, let's look at what programs you have that intervene or alter the default behavior.

www.mozilla.org
It's a bit different compared to IE, but you can find a skin on www.deskmods.org that makes it look like IE.
Has a built-in pop up stopper and I've never had any of the problems you describe.
Heck I don't even get many ad's except for the ones top and bottom of the forum.
And I can hide those with the image block feature. I don't though....lol gotta give ZP a lil revenue.
Give it a look, I'm sure you'll never go back to IE unless Mozilla doesn't support some IE proprietary crap HTML.

This is what I am getting at. You may not have a real problem
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;257123
Also, are you on dial up ?
The most common cause of poor performance in Internet Explorer is large pictures, sounds, videos, or other multimedia files that appear or are played automatically when you access a Web page. If you are using a slow connection to access the Internet, these files may take a long time to appear or be played.
To improve browsing performance in Internet Explorer, you can prevent pictures, sounds, videos, and other multimedia files from appearing or being played automatically when you access Web pages. To do so, use the appropriate method.
Internet Explorer versions 5, 5.5, and 6
Start Internet Explorer, and then click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
On the Advanced tab, click to clear one or more of the following check boxes in the Multimedia area:
Show Pictures (prevents pictures from appearing automatically)
Play Sounds (prevents sounds from being played automatically)
Play Videos (prevents videos from being played automatically)
Play Animations (prevents animations from being played automatically)
Click Apply.
Disable the AutoComplete feature for forms and passwords:
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Content tab, and then click AutoComplete.
Click to clear the Forms and User names and passwords on forms check boxes, click OK, and then click OK.
Click the Security tab, and then click Custom Level.
Click Disable for one or more of the items in the following Active Content areas:
ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins (prevents Internet Explorer from automatically using items that show active content)
Java (prevents Internet Explorer from viewing Java programs automatically)
Scripting
NOTE: If you disable ActiveX, Java, and scripting, you may not be able to view Web sites that use these features.
Click OK, and then click OK.

I've had this same problem. As mentioned earlier it is something to do with the Kazaa "Supertrick" and the ads on ZeroPaid.com.
This is what I did to remedy the problem.
1) Find your HOSTS file in your Windows folder
2) Right click on it
3) choose "Open With..."
4) Choose "NotePad"
5) Click on "Search" at the top
6) Choose "Find..."
7) enter "fastclick.net" in the blank and hit enter (this should highlight an item... delete the entire line that the item is on)
8) hit enter again to find the next one until you get a "fasclick.net was not found" alert window. (this occured 4-5 times in my HOSTS file)
9) do Steps 7 and 8 except enter "burstnet.com" in the blank
10) Choose "File" at the top and "Save"
11) Restart the Internet Explorer browser
Remeber to delete the entire line that the item is on not just the highlighted part.
fastclick.net and burstnet.com
Hope I helped!

I have the same prob, I cant hit back on zeropaid, I have to rightclick back. I have popup stopper so I dont see the adds, but theyre there in back history, two for each page, the strange thing ofcourse being that IE reports "done"but doesnt jump back when hit. This has nothing to do with Klite. Im on ADSL dial up. I cant do an ALT+left arrow, dont work. The adds are however named burstnet, so theres a clue in what Beatfactory said but I cant find that damn hostfile. Below is a screenshot of the search results, w00t?!

Kinda off topic....you know what I find really funny, when my mom checks her e-mail, she thinks that if you use the "Delete" key on her keyboard that it would delete that mail. But once I showed her how to really delete your mail, she would click the "Back" button to go back to her Inbox then ask me, "Oh...I thought I had deleted that?" To this day, she still doesn't know when to double-click or single-click an item.

Krell, yes, i'm on dial-up.
before i do these things, i'm wondering why it only happens here @ ZP. on all other forums, it works fine.
i'm wondering if :Beatfactory: has a point.
although this is an annoyance, it's not that big of a deal.
but if there is a solution, and since i am not the only one with this problem, i'm glad we're throwing it around.
i appreciate all of the responses here.

I am certain your problem is because of the ads on ZP. I have a ad blocker and that is why I can go back to previous page with no problem.
I use a firewall that has a builtin ad blocker but there are many apps of this type you might want to try.
I use Outpost Firewall.
Try one of the many free ad blockers. You can find freeware of this type at http://webattack.com or http://nonags.com
I am sure other can recommend one, but as I say I use outpost firewall and it does a good job, it is also freeware.

Actually I think beatfactory and iq214 DO have something, . . . I do not have that problem, and I do not use kazaa.
As with most other things, I only see the need to eliminate the most obvious and do the easiest first.
As for the microsoft kb article, I am not proposing you "do it" I am puttng out there for those that want to tweak.
The Alt + Left arrow was to make sure you werent just being click happy. (plus I want you to be a keyboard person)
Being on dial up means that if IE has to check for a newer version of that page each time, that you will be slow . . .however, I wasnt getting anywhere asking a zillion questions, but you finally told me that it only happens with ZP.
Follow editing the HOST files, see what hapens, it will not hurt to do that! You kazaa people will see problems I never will in my lifetime.

ah Krell.
i appreciate all of your questions.
my meaning was with :Beatfactory:......changing all of those files.
tis a scary thing for me.
but in his theory, i thought there was validity.
i as well, do not use Kazaa.
now the firewall option may have validity as well.
i use Sygate Personal Firewall, but i see no options as to Pop-Up Ads.
maybe i should try the ones Rickio suggest, since he doesn't have these problems.

I am on an O/S thats 2 days old, actually 2 O/S, the new one is running thru the Internet Connection Sharing on the first machine. I am not running any add blocker on either machine, I do not have that problem with either machine.
At first I thought this was an example of how 3rd party software makes changes to windows configurations.
Also, I want to distinguish, can you not click back on ANY zero paid pages, or . . just the ones immediately AFTER where you have typed an msg.
DO this, type a response to me, submit, then try to click back. If this is what youre talking about, theres nothing you can do about that, its by design.
Now pick a thread you havent been to before, that has a LOT of responses, scroll thru page after page, then at the end, see if you can click back to THOSE pages.

Download Mozilla....follow the steps in the below picture.
Krell, I doubt it's the HOST file....cuz I've had 3 versions of KL installed all with their own crappy 'super trick' and I've never had this problem with ZP....
So...try Mozilla! I haven't seen a popup or ad or even had to say no to a fastclick cookie since I totally switched over to Mozilla.....
Lamourlady, you may also wanna black out the IP address that's first on the list in that picture. As it is yours and it kinda invites people to start pinging you.

In answer to your question. Someone was scanning your computer but your firewall blocked it. No problem their, it is just showing that it is doing it's job.
There was a older thread about this quite awhile back and I am certain it is the ads that are messing you up. My firewall is very comprehensive as it blocks ads, pop-ups,javascript and a few other ways ads are delivered. You can also configure it to let you let some things pass when you come to a site that needs javascript etc.
Host files trick might help and mozilla might also be the answer. But if you like your browser and don't want to change to many things try Outpost. You have at least 3 options as I see it. Perhaps more that I am missing here.

It is safe to leave that entry there. All the hosts file does is just blocks unwanted sites & servers. So whatever the connection attempt to "ads.fastclick.net" or "ads.burstnet.com" is trying to retrieve, whether it is an ad or a cookie or whatever, it will not work since it will be looking for it on your computer and not the ad servers. Therefore, effectively blocking the connection to this site. For more on the "Hosts" file & for an extensive list, try here

Thanx, thats what I thought, and my combo of host file and popup stopper works fine cause I almost never get any adds or banners. But thats why I wonder how this is connected to the back-problem, and what to do about it.

Well the hosts file & a pop-up stopper are somewhat related to it. If you go through a site, say....like....UTC for example that has a Cydoor pop-up ad, & if you don't have any of these two methods blocking it, it first goes through the Cydoor ad then re-directs you straight to the site. Now when you click on the "Back" button once to go back to the previous site for example like MSN, you can't. It goes back to the Cydoor ad then re-directs you back to UTC again. You have to click "Back" twice. So the ad is actually sandwiched in-between two sites. Get what I mean? But if you have just a hosts file without a pop-up stopper, all it displays is the "Page cannot be found...." But if you have the combo of the hosts file & a pop-up stopper, it blocks that certain ad & site ever from viewing. It's not necessary to have a hosts file, but it is effective for blocking certain sites & servers from viewing rather than having an extra program that runs on start-up using up your precious resources doing it for you.

yeah I understand, but how do I fix it so I can backclick by clicking once?

Well if you use the combination of the "Hosts (http://www.smartin-designs.com/)" file, some kind of pop-up stopper, an ad blocker & having your IE or some kind of cookie handler that blocks & filters out third-party cookies, like I said earlier, that should do the "trick". All of those methods described should eliminate that specific ad that is sandwiched in-between two sites that both you & Lamourlady are having. If that doesn't work, well then I'm all out of suggestions.
