View Full Version : Kazaa error messages

I first downloaded Kazaa and repeatedly received the same error message when I tried to launch it. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and rebooted the program numerous times but the error message continues. So I then downloaded KazaaLite (after uninstalling regular Kazaa one final time)...same error message. Something won't let me launch either program. I've run several virus checks including one recommended for Kazaa bugs. No success. Here is the error message:
Kazaa Lite has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

When I click the link for more details about the problem I'm told: Error Signature.....AppName: kazaa.exe AppVer: 2.0.0.0 ModName: exthook.dll ModVer: 2.5.0.0. Offset: 00001a22.

There is further technical information if I click another link but it is far too lenghty for me to include in this email.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try right clicking on the Kazaa executable file then going to properties on the list that pops up.

Once there find the option for running the program in compatibility mode.

This is IF you're using XP.....now this is a standard answer, but heres what I think it is....

By any chance do you have or have had Grokster installed? If so you need to uninstall it.

Then download Adaware or Spybot (someone else will probably link you to it....but you can search google for 'em).

Then run both programs and clean up all the spyware registry entries and files created by Kazaa.

Once you do all that try installed Kazaa again.

Report back with you're results.
