I mentioned this on another thread (http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=6458), and i'm not even sure if this is possible using this forum software, but wouldn't ZP but i better site for getting help if a new field(s) was/were put in our profiles for PC specs since most help questions cannot be answered without this information.

I was the apposing vote, and I will tell you why. You already know that I think its a good idea to provide this information, AND a great idea to bring it up for action.
To put this in to everyones profiles, means a lot of additional administration. I think its easier to post a thread, that has a form in it. A simple cut n paste job will put that users info in to their request for help.
This form could also be downloaded, filled out, then attached in their post, is it is much smaller than many of the sigs and pics that are posted.
Either way would work. It puts a nominal amount of work on both admins and users.
just my 2 cents
EDIT : I am deleting the rest of my posts in this thread, and I wil try to not respond to lap dogs like r_xq in the future

How about putting the form in your profile, not your sig, that way its out of the way
But having some kind of form might be good to, maybe have a special section where you can post your form with a link to it, and make a reference to it

It would make it a lot easier for crackers if people started advertising their hardware specs in their profile.

It seems to me if I were going to crack someone I would be looking at the spec's of computers to nominate a target. The faster the computer the faster the crack, the more compatability between the hardware the more chance of success, and with better knowledge of hardware comes more way's to hide a remote admin if you want to re-access the target.
For instance if the target is a dial-up then it is likely that they have a win soft internal modem these day's, and it would be easy to re-write it's software to function in accordance with your wishes.
There is also the fact that if I were cracking I would be looking for the largest targets I could find, people with the highest amounts of storage and speed, the higher the security the more chance of finding sensetive documents which is the most common goal of the cracker.

this is interesting... see, on one hand, you've got ppl who would like to show off their setup, on the other, you've got ppl who wanna know what that info would be used for.
hell, why not just write down some comp specs in your 'biograhpy' or somethin?

Krells post only confirmed the point i raised in mine.
MoonMan, its too easy to dismiss someone as an 'arrogant asshole' or some other similar generic insult if you dont agree with them. I expect better, even from you.

I'm not out to get into (another) flame war, but I made my comment when it seemed like you mocked what I said. To be honest, I almost never see anything positive or constructive from your posts. It's usually mocking someone or making fun of something. I wasn't going to take it from you like others have.
That is all I have to say on that, so if you blast me you can have the benefit of me not responding back.

WHY in the HELL are you even here?
WHY are you in our business?
You dont have anything to contribute.
You really dont seem to KNOW much of anything, I see going behind people with smartassed comments. THATS what you do.
And btw stuperfied . . . . what isus proposed was the whole point of this thread to begin with.

Im here cos i took the day off work, feeling a bit tired.
Krell, its one of your bad habits to try and pass your opinions off as hard facts, your attitude is kinda reminiscent of those preachers on those christian cable channels youve got over there.
i kinda like smartassed comments, i like the contrast between them and the sanctimonious and pretentious way you give out advice.

Let's not forget r_xq that you are responsible for this whole fire.
You seem to be the only one that has a problem with any of the users in here. from what I can see you are the only one who had a problem with moon man's tech speak and it seems that you have very little backing in here.

Ahhhh . . . . I wasnt aware that you were qualified to make that determination, based on your technical proficiency.

or maybe this fine piece of criticism?

I will stick with sanctimonious and pretentious, I seem to get a fair amount of problems solved, not the easy peazy ones you sift thru. Anything else you want to yap about?

sorry, i just dont have time to go searching through all your favourite tech sites then come back here and post answers. you know, people have strengths and weaknesses, your strength is helping kids with computer problems on internet forums, something im more than capable of doing if i had the perogative. keep doing what you do best, buddy
anyway, thanks for bringing up my Nero post, shame i didnt see a typically knowledgable answer from yourself on that one.

Why don't you have the time to go through them?
I found the time to go through them and Krell has a point, your posts are designed to be disruptive rather than constructive.
