Excuse me if this has been asked before.

I accidentally canceled (and then deleted - thanks to an automated setting in diet k) a very large nearly completed file that had taken nearly a week to dl. Strangely, I can't find the deleted file anywhere. I know it's got to be on my HD somewhere. But where? My recycle bin has lots of files but none is the one I'm looking for. Anyone have any ideas where these deletes might be hiding?

I don't this gonna help (depends how large you file was) but sometimes when I delete a large file (large numbers of them) it by passes the recycling bin (due to lack of room) and is pretty much gone.

Also have you doing file search on your drive?

there is a real slim chance but if you have Norton AV or something you might have a protected bin and you can go to the recover norton protected files....thats how i got a failed dat back that only had 100mb to go (LOTR2 mpeg)

Kazaa dat's don't touch the recycle bin if I remember correctly.

So in short.....you're screwed. Be more careful next time, or download Kazaa ++ 2.2 the cancel feature is nestled in a second menu.

So you gotta go...

Cancel Download > Are You Sure? > Are You Sure? (pop up box).

Less likely you'll go brain dead for more then one click so you're pretty much safe with that. And uncheck that crap in Diet Kaza! You could have at least restarted the file without searching or clicking the sig2dat link again if it was turned off.

CCS Dude is completely right....your file is gone..that's it...once you delete a file using the programs' commands,it's gone forever...even a system restore won't get it back for you . Sorry, but it's true. Kazaa doesn't send deleted files to your recycle bin(neither do emule or edonkey) they are immediately wiped as efficiently as a hard drive format.

I believe you lost the file. You can try to recover it, but most likely it will be corrupted.

I know they dont touch the bin but norton picked my file up that was"deleted" because it supposedly failed..i used the function to get norton protected files back and it worked.....i did what i did, saw what i saw, and maybe it doesnt work if you cancel them yourself but it worked for me
