I currently use version 2.6 with the old TrippyMX server list and am satified with this setup. But I am now ready to try version 3.2. I don't want to lose 2.6 yet.

Is it OK to create a folder named WinMX32 In the Program Files directory and install the new version to this folder?

Is there a risk of conflict in the Registry between the two versions ?

What is the bestway to setup installation of 3.2 while keeping 2.6?

Thanks

Yup , as long as you don't let it install in your current 2.6 folder you'll be fine. You obviously can't run them both at the same time , but you may find you have more luck with openNap servers running 2.6 as it appears to be more compatible with them.

I don't find this is true myself (2.6 better with opennaps??) but who knows, maybe ffooky is right and i'm wrong. Or maybe our systems are different.
Anyway, what I wanted to say, you'd probably do best to install to rename your old directory from "winmx" to "winmx26" instead of the other solution. Because when installing, the installer always creates a folder named "winmx".

I have both programs working OK.

What I meant was that I seemed to have less problems downloading from audioGnome users (eternal Busy or always queued 5) and didn't get the sniffy message about direct client browsing when trying to browse someone on the kaenguru network when I used 2.6.

For the record, the 2 versions didn't stay long on my system. Version 3.2 is a MONSTER OF POWER compared to 2.6. With the multi-source downloads on the WinMX protocol and the ability to import server lists directly in the OpenNap servers section, it is almost embarassing...I am on the verge of feeling guilty.

So I uninstalled both versions, cleaned the registry and reinstalled 3.2. I am a convert. Version 3.2 is running smoothly on my comp.
