The one I like is Jv16 powertools. You can get the most recent version at http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/jv16powertools.shtml and its freeware.

Wolfie's experienced enough to make a good recomendation, but please, as a rule, procede with caution.
Back up your registry first, etc. Read the directions with any util, and dont be in a hurry.
good luck

I'm a little late but while ur at the site wolfie mentioned: http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/index.php u might as well pick up the regcleaner there. If you have XP, check this site out: http://home.carolina.rr.com/lexunfreeware/ And remember to do as Krell says. I've fallen into the pit because I thought I knew what I was doing, but I really didn't. I had to reinstall Windows twice.
By all means, just stay AWAY from System Mechanic. The documentation was pathetic and the program is difficult to use for newbies. This is why I had to reinstall Windows the first time. It just gave me way too many problems from my experience. IMHO, that program just does not work well at all. You should be fine w/ the programs already mentioned and that should keep your registry fairly clean and running sufficiently.
Back up your registry, read the documentation, and delete keys you are almost positive you don't need. Just take the time to do all the precautionary things and don't be too lazy about it. So for cleaning up my registry I use regcleaner, regscrubxp, jv16, and Norton. Oh yeah, I use the Ontrack System Suite one too. I also use Hare but I haven't seen much of a difference, but if you want the link just PM me or whatever. Hope that helped. I'm in a rush as I've been busy as of late.
EDIT: If you need some help figuring out which scans to perform w/ jv16, I am sure Krell will be willing to help. I can't speak for Krell but I'm sure he'll help if he gets around to it. He's in a much better position than me to answer that question and most others involving computers. hehe
