I have lines on my monitor that run horizontly across the screen, they are more visible with a white backround, and they occur if there is any sort of image-text that is not white, For instance the zeropaid.com logo at the top of the page is making greyish lines run 1inch thick across that part of the screen, the text that i am typing is making a black/white grid(the space in between the lines creates the white) and so on. If anyone has ever experienced these, or has anything to offer, it would be greatly appreciated, as the lines are starting to make my eyes fuzzy(its startin to get to me) i have a hp 733mhz, GeForce2 64mb, 512mb 100mhz sdram.
I have swithced monitors and confirmed that it isnt the fault of the monitor.

Sounds like it's one of these.....
maybe
Since I can't see the symptoms first hand I may be way off here.
1) Check to see if the monitor cable is tightly plugged into your video card and make sure the 2 thumb screws that hold it down are good an snug.
2) Reseat your video card to make sure none of the AGP/PCI contacts haven't collected a layer of this crap that keeps them from contacting (happens with RAM alot , may happen with cards).
3) I doubt this is the answer, but try degaussing your monitor, refer to the manual on how to do it, if it supports it. Most have it in the GUI menu that pops up when you adjust the monitors settings. Sony however requires you to hold the power button in for around 10 seconds then turn it back on then off once more then quickly back on. Don't ask me why you hold it in for 10 seconds....it worked just fine going on an off fast but I guess it prepares it with some crap. The screen should 'jiggle' then click once the degaussing is finished.
4) Your video card drivers may be 'broken' try updating them if all else fails, but ONLY if ALL else fails....
5) The CTR guns in your monitor may have lived out their lives....in that case your screwed.
6) The monitors shadow masking may be fucked up....IE you've had it on so long the CTR gun literally fried the shadow masking thus making all the tiny 'holes' 'off' in a way. So you get a shitty blur image once they all go....along with odd colors since the guns ain't shooting directly into the original position.
7) Your video card may be overheating....try checking it's temps.
8) The magnetic field that directs each blast of color from your monitor may be going....you can adjust it to get a bit more life outta it, BUT I recommend you don't go poking around in there unless you seriously know what your doing. No offense, but I doubt you do so take it in if all else fails.....you can KILL yourself with the residual charge left on the monitor even if it's been unplugged for days. I mean this is all seriousness, bro. BE CAREFUL! LOL
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head, if your using a LCD and the discolored lines are only in one place and don't move.....then someone smacked it and damaged some of the liquid crystals. Can't be fixed....your stuck with it.
Now with ALL that said....if the glitches appear at random it's most likely a video card to monitor connector problem or a video card driver problem OR your card is over heating and fucking up in some way.

it turns out that the fan ontop of the gpu had stopped working (either because the amazing amount of dust was stopping it from spinning(99percent sure it was that) or becaus of a power prob) I bought a new one mad dog geforce mmx440, on the back it didnt look all that impressive, but the actual card varies from the picture and it looks hella cool. anywho it works great and thanks for all your help
