I have a very annoying problem. When I try to run a p2p program (and I have tried several different ones), my computer reboots after a random length of time. If i do not run any p2p programs, I have no problems. I have even reformatted my comp and reinstalled everything, but the problem didn't go away. :mellow
If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
System:
Windows 2000 pro sp2
P4 1.5Ghz
Viarama motherboard
256 ram
80Gb & 40Gb HD

It would be nice to know which P2P programs you've been trying. Each one and in what order you've installed/uninstalled them. I'm sure that would give us more to go on.

i dunno if this applies to win2k, but it does to xp so theres a good chance it will to 2000 too.
i know somewhere there is an option that says 'reboot if major error' or something to that effect, it was discussed quite recently. that could be the problem. wait till krell comes along........youll be sorted then!

I am using a 350 watt power supply.
I run games like battlefield 1942, warcraft, AOM without any problems.

You neck deep in the best help that zero paid has to offer. The fact that you have reinstalled your O/S, and the problem persists, does not mean that it isnt software related, you may have perpetuated the proplem by reinstalling an incompatible driver set.
On a hardware level I can help you to stay updated with the proper drivers. You may have a network card that needs better drivers or you may have an IRQ sharing problem.
As for the apps . . . . at times, an app will call to a memory range that is unavailable, and you will crash, we can review the logs and Event Viewer to get clues! P2P apps love to hog resources and port ranges.
If you care to explore this more indepth, you may use the Aida32 app to gather info from your system, also the Event Viewer logs. Several people have exported those for me to view, and make determinations with. Warning . .it takes a couple of days for me to do this.
