I have gone through the FAQs and tried the list included below and still cannot connect. These include:
1. Disabling the personal firewall I am running.
2. Changing the Port Number to 7000 and back to 1214.
3. Re-installing the program.
I am able to surf the Internet.
Below is what Netstat reveals regarding my connections:

hmm, go to tools, options, firewall, and put a check in the box that says "use port 80 as an alternative for incoming connctions" and see if that works.

Nothing is happening. How long should I wait for?

go to file and disconnect, then file and connect...then wait a few minutes to see if it works.

Which firewall are you using? What does your firewall say about access by Kazaa?
Are you able to use any other P2P apps while dialed up?
Do you have any Remore Access Services disabled?
Do you have more than one verion of Kazaa installed?
When you migrated to the latest version of KaZaA Lite, did you completely uninstall and remove the files realted to your last version of Kazaa?

Which firewall are you using? What does your firewall say about access by Kazaa?
>Sygate Personal Firewall and it is allowing access.
Are you able to use any other P2P apps while dialed up?
> I only use KaZaA.
Do you have any Remore Access Services disabled?
>You mean Remote Access Services? If so, the answer is no, with the exception of "Routing and Remote Access".
Do you have more than one verion of Kazaa installed?
>No.
When you migrated to the latest version of KaZaA Lite, did you completely uninstall and remove the files realted to your last version of Kazaa?
>I used the Add/Remove Program. Did not go into the Registry to delete all entries regarding KaZaA, and it did leave the Program folder alone but almost nothing was in there.

Although this is a stretch, I have seen instances where you uninstall a program, and leave behind a few configuration files in the C:\Programs Files path, and when you go to REinstall the app, it does not overwrite the former files. Sometimes this is a benefit, so that you do not have to totally reconfig your Zone Alarm etc, but sometimes, it's a boon.
Given the information that you have provided, I would do a better uninstall and clean up, try again. You may have to go back to a previous version as long as you have that O/S.

I reinstalled a previous version and it works alright. May retry when whatever unrecognized bug is causing the problem gets fixed.

I want to be a bit more specific here. I thought about this while out to taco bell. When you uninstall a program, it can not only leave files in Program Files, but in the System32 dir.
When you use Add\Remove Programs, and it asks you to do an Automatic, or Custom uninstall, select the Custom. When you do this, select ALL, the .dll's, the registry entries, the program files path . . lose it all.
Ontrack System Suites is a utility that an manage installs and uninstalls a tad better, along with rogue registry entries, if you are disciplined to use it.

I'll keep in mind your suggestion of using a custom uninstall next time I reinstall the program.
