Hmm, well I bet most of you that tried Ares, tried it when it was on gnutella and you thought it just plain old sucked....

Well, now with it's new decentralized network, Ares is pretty good.. I didn't like it either but now i tried it with it's new network and it's a pretty damn good program but needs more users..
Think about this, when it started out a month ago it had 1035 users... Now, less than a month later it has 2,130 users, I think that is a bigg difference in user base especially when it's just starting out, I think this program has potential to be very big but it just needs more users... New builds of this program come out all the time but there really isnt much attention give to the fact that these builds contain more features and are much better than previous builds.. I think everybody should give Ares at least one more chance and try it... It may grow to become one of the best... so plz give it a whirl and share all you got, the current build has some graphic error or bug where the tabs are messed up but that will be fixed in the next build.. so if anyone is interested, plz visit www.softgap.com for more info about the program and to download it
Cheers everybody, hope you listened =)

Yes it does have potential. The user base has grown to over 3,000 users now. What I can find on the network now, I can download at fasttrack like speeds. I encourage people to give it a shot and make suggestions to the Ares team. I did and they were all ears and now, a lot of my suggestions were implemented in the new build release.

After installing ares i ran it after setting it up ares started scanning all my mp3's even thought i hadn't selected any material to share. Reason i didnt select any material to share was i just was testing ares for the first time to see if its any good so dont go flaming me. So basically ares forced me to share. maybe if i liked the program i would've shared but i uninstalled this crap and went back to shareaza. so u think this is good forced sharing is not coo especially that it took and hour to hash all my files. So just because i was curious to find out if ares was any good i end up wasting and hour hashing just to try out the dam thing..

One more thing. Ares is a resource hog!
i run win98se and when i run ares my available resources go down to 48%. I think ill stick to shareaza which isnt so resource hungry. till they fix this!

You do have a choice what is Shared, you just choose the wrong one....
Click on File/Preferences/Manual Configure, pick your Folders there.
Ares will use a lot of Resources till your Files are Hashed (scanned)...than thet will drop to almost nothing,

Well i meant upon first run of ares it would share all my files. Thats a lot of files i just got fed up with ares upon first run i wanna select what i want to share not ares going scanning my whole drive.

I feel for you. I've had programs that were real resource hogs. I also run Win98SE. Although Ares does not seem to hog my system resources. Strange.
