Hello all - reasonable new to the P2P arena and have recently downloaded ver of WinMx as I wanted acess to music files that were in the 160kbs range that Kazaa seems to sorely lack. I'm impressed w/ the assortment on WinMX but everytime I try to download a file it says Qued and it just seems to stay that way, Am i doin something wrong or are there just too many idiots like me booging down the network. I have dial-up wich doesn't help but I was able to get files from Kazaa. Pls help any suggestion for setup tweaks oor anything would be appreciated as I'd like to get files and contribute. Thanx

winmx has a reputation for queueing. btw u can find loads of 192kbp mp3s on kazaa, u just gotta set the search for 192 and above and leave autosearchmore running. u can get this in the k++ version, link available in a news release on the ZP news page.

Use K++, and set a minimum "File Size" or "Bitrate Limit". Problem solved. I share high quality rips of my albums. Do you know where? Yep, fasttrack. It may have a lot of low quality music, but if you search a certain way, you can get the same quality as WinMX and all the others.

Set the Auto Enter Queue to 100, and the Auto Find Sources to 1min, or whatever the smallest # is
Other than that, you're screwed, you could try to get MXlinX from the news section here, its got a speedup feature, but WinMX is known as the queue king really

yep if you want files, it's time to get a new p2p
if you want to see a lot of filenames, and be unable to get them, by all means keep winmx

winMX aint THAT bad, i used it for a long time and got great results, if you see someone with stuff you like you can ask to trade - you probably need alot of good files for this to be a success though.
Now that i use dc++ and eMule ive never seen any reason to go back to winMX tho, and winMX HAS gone downhill alot over the past 6 months or so.

I agree, it has gone down hill some, but I still get a lot of files off of it, it seems to get new content pretty quickly
I honestly don't mind waiting an hour for a song if its better quality, my comp is on 24/7 anyway, and its not like I NEED to have a certain song right away

Yeah I mainly use emule and dc++ also and really get more then enough music and files to play with.
I do use winmx once in awhile and always get what I want.
I've entered ques of 100 or so and get my files. It doesn't bug me if I really want it. But normally I browse and get files that don't have long ques. You need to approach your downloading a little differently. Browse and download, avoid ques and you will dig it.
If you really need a certain song use more then on p2p app.
I always wonder why people want to down a app. when you can use them all. Just consider it another tool in your toolbag and collect as many tools as possible.
peace!

Like a cliff, there is no curve :)
From what I've heard its hard to learn at first, and is very easy to get a virus or other nasty thing on your comp, but I'm sure some other members could enlighten you more on that
