There are rumors circulating that Sega is working on a next Gen console & plans to re-enter the rat race once again. I hope to the gaming Gods this is true because Sega was once a very competent console manufacture but a series of console missteps cost them dearly. Even though most original Dreamcast owners will testify that the console should have been a solid success. Well ahead of the times for its day, released a full year before PS2, as it sported free internet gaming & other options not common until the current Gen of consoles.

Would you guys give Sega a try this go 'round? If they do it right and release in the coming year they will have a big head start on the other guys. PS3 is only now taking its rightful place in the sales market. In fact, its taken the PS3 so long to take off that by this time in the PS2 lifespan Sony was releasing the next console right now. Sony;s current console will likely have the longest shelf life of any console ever. Was this always the plan? I have to wonder. Anyways...It would be cool to see a KICK ASS SEGA CONSOLE!!!!

It's funny, they've been out of the race so long it seems like forever ago that there was a Sega console, yet they've only skipped this current generation. I'd consider getting one if it comes out. Sega have always seemed like Nintendo where they want to make games that make money and not just make money by making games. Though that doesn't really hold true for Nintendo these days. Sony and MS have always been about money through games to me though.

Dreamcast should have been a success. Sony's PR machine and exclusive contracts kept Sega out of the race long term. Dreamcast was a good console at the right price point and I wouldn't mind seeing them get back into the business.

Depends on the games. If its going to be a bunch of small uninteresting games like some of the wii titles out there, then no. But if they have some good exclusives going for them, sure. I don't need another platform for old arcade games, but I could always use something new and exciting to play with!

I don't see how sega could make an impact in the current market without creating cutting edge technology and signing exclusive game deals.

For now I will stick with my Xbox.

Good Luck! Unless as Jorge states they release some mind blowing new tech, it won't succeed. The market is already over saturated with 3 companies, a 4th would guarantee that 1 would fail, and it wouldn't be either of the multi billion dollar corps. I don't think their investors would be impressed either, given that they are making money now.

What?? You people are nutss! Not that this is really going to happen, although Sega does have the hardware already created that would even CRUSH PS3 in terms of graphics but have chosen to only use it in arcades, the market place is actually ripe for another company to release a FAR superior console than the very OUTDATED ones currently on the market. The current gen is VERY old in terms of console lifespans. Usually another round of consoles would be released this very year! Think about that! It took so long for Sony and MS to iron out the bugs or drop the price that their products are now outdated JUNK! Only PC owners are getting the cutting edge anymore!! HA!

Yes, maybe not Sega, but some company should have made a move. Its too bad Sega did not see this gap coming up or it could have filled it & filled it well!
