I read that Will Smith has signed to do 2 more Independence Day films and that the third movie will drop six months from the 2nd. That means the studio is looking for a 1,2 punch knock out for that year at the Box. A summer blockbuster followed up by a year end holiday season smash box office success. This sounds like fun to me. I live for such hyped up events and to be honest have missed the Will Smith summer blockbusters the last couple of years. I look forward to his triumphant return! Its pure fun but some will over analyze everything because they have forgot how to have fun...or be a kid so to speak. Anyways, these movies are very close to being reality. I have read that 2012 is a possible time frame for release and ID4-Ever is the working title of the 2nd film.

I dunno, I look back and like it a lot. Sure it's mindless, but what action/sci-fi movies aren't? Very few.

I wonder if they are going to take place on independence day? That would be kinda weird, If they don't then they would have to change the name of the movies to "Witty guy who fights aliens..again"

Thats how I feel now too. I remember leaving the theater saying the same thing notbob mentioned about the laptop hooking up to the alien ship, it is laughable for sure but now I look back on this cheese filled blockbuster popcorn film with much fondness. Pretty good family film as well. Its heavy on the "American Values" theme well before it became a fad post 9/11. I kinda over look that aspect of the movie because for some reason it just chaps my ass when I dwell on it...so why bother. I like the over all story even though the theme is a rip off. Its executed fairly well but I thought the way they found to beat the ships was lame.
