Just installed MX version 3.1. Seems to be stable and happy with system. One problem which I can't resolve is no resumption of downloads on re-start. In fact, download list disappears on start-up. Had a look at configuration but can't see anything wrong in settings. Welcome any advice and suggestions.

one thing you could try doing is selecting the downloads as "auto-complete". there are 2 ways to do this... one way is to select the "auto-complete" button in the search window. this will make all downloads auto-complete. or, you can do it file by file from the transfer window. if you right-click a transfer, then select "auto-complete" it will work.

and be patient. it works slowly, so as not to use a lot of bandwidth. all your downloads should eventually complete.

Thanks for your advice. Bad news is---still no joy with resume. Download list has disappeared on restart. Weird! I've never come across this in any other p2p I use.

if u click the load incomplete button on the transfer window it should bring your incomplete d/ls up....(if u havent changes your download directory since the files were started).

If the come up, u can right click..retry find sources.

If u have changed it, right click the file u wish 2 resume, manually download, manually choose file to resume from (if its not listed).

I've had the same problem as Bideford. Auto-complete only helps if you keep WinMX running. Loading incomplete files doesn't always work either. Some of them do dissappear if WinMX is shut down. They are files in your list that hasn't started yet and are waiting to find more sources. WinMX kept crashing my computer and I found it so aggrivating to have to keep finding those same files over and over. I installed Max Mem so I haven't had to do that for a few days.
It's true that not all of your files pending come back. I usually keep my fingers crossed..the ones that have been downloaded a little always come back though.

Thanks for all advice. Seems no matter what I try, there is still no sight of my download list on re-start. Crazy, really. First time I've tried MX and will be the last. What kind of amateur software is MX? Resumption of downloads is pretty basic stuff and yet MX seems incapable of it. Amateur stuff is putting it mildly.

That is the only thing I really can't stand about WinMX. I am really happy with it it's performance otherwise. Once I got the hang of it I found it really easy to use.

i'm sorry bideford, but how can you call winmx "amateur"? if the resumes work for me and everyone else, maybe it's just a small glitch, or another piece of software you use deletes it. you should report this to the winmx team. do not give up on winmx just because you have had one problem with it.

you could also try winmx beta 3.11... they made a lot of fixes to that one.

I accept your point, Isus, but still think MX to be an amateur piece of software with appalling deficiencies. I have had a go with Beta 3.11 and can't even connect to network with it !! No, I think Kazaa and Xolox , which are great pieces of kit for me, take some beating and have my vote. Thanks again for all advice.

WinMX will only resume if you started downloading the file
before you went offline. Then you load Incomplete Files like suggested. It does suck that the fact if you don't start downloading the file, you have to search for it again when you restart WinMX.
I use 3.1 and 3.11,
3.11 is better for useing the OpenNap Servers.
JMO
And yes I use Kazaa alot, I happen to like it.:shy

geesh......everyone claims WinMX is just way too complicated and now it's being called "amateurish".
pahlease.
if it never started downloading, then it really isn't an incomplete file, now is it?????????
so what's the problem, u have to search it again???????
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
