I posted in another forum, but can't find it so I am going to post again. I used winmx a long time with dialup and could DL a song in 25 to 30min. I got Bell South DSL and now it's super slow. I don't have a router, or a fire wall. I am using XPpro an a single computer. Thanks for any help, Eric:mellow

Sorry for the 2 postss...new to the forum

The first thing we need to know is, are you using secondary connection? If you arnt, just give it a try, and post your results back here.

Yeah, that's the only connection it will let me use due to a TCP issue????

things that could be wrong:

1. uploads are hogging your bandwidth
2. you don't have many (if any) fast sources
3. QUEUES :mellow

Yeah, I get a lot of queues, but also get a lot of songs to dL. How do I configure it to be the fastest??? Thanks for the replies, Eric:mellow :mellow

well, as far as i know, it's configured as well as can be by default (my opinion) queueing is just a "trait" of the winmx network you have to deal with :-\
if you consider different programs, i love blubster for music...and kazaa lite with k++ for everything else.....
someone else may have more information on winmx configuration, we'll just have to wait and see.

Ya but it seems to have a shitload of bugs(blubster)..I believe its the fact that you are hogging up your upload bandwith.. go to settings and go to the bandwith one and for OUTGOING bandwith.. make it about 80% of your total bandwith and check it
Ex. If you have 128kpbs upload, you have 16k so 80% would be 12k which means you would set it to 12000 and check it,restart winmx and see if everything is working =)

A couple of questions, 1 are you having problems timing out?
If so set the timeouts longer. 2 are your uploads working at decent speed? Also what are your # of permitted uploads? Also we need to know what upload bandwidth you are permitting.

i haven't noticed a post about this, but could windows' firewall be giving you some problems? it's in one of the connection preferences...

Define slow, mine would start out ok then slow down over time, turns out my isp is apparently limiting the default winmx ports, I changed my port #s and that fixed my problems for now.
