I know this is a worthless thread but I always like it when I see these sales for Cds and the sale is, Get 10 Cds of your choice for only a $1.
Now how does the Artist and Record companys make money off of that? Maybe they shouldn't totally blame P2P for thier money loses. Or I could be wrong.

Jay Leno made a joke a few days ago about record companies who complain about people downloading music, and then offer
10 CDs for a penny.

They make you get a membership in order to get those deals and in reality, they end up getting back the money they lose through membership fees that are charged monthly.

I know way back when was in one of those clubs, 10 for penny and then tell you have to buy the next 10 or 11 or whatever it was at full price before you can't see any discount or been able to cancel the membership.

Now if you where underage like me when I was in the club that was the only way you could have gotten out of paying them..

My friend last year, found a site that said "10 CD's for 1 cent, no registration, no membership"

And 4 weeks later, he got those 10 CD's.

So, some ARE real :D

Why do we gripe about CDs costing upwards of $20? Because we can go out and buy 50 blank CDs for $15. We know how much it costs to make CDs, not much since we are all doing it all the time. You'd think they'd get smart and start offering a much lower price on the ones they make, just like the low price on the ones we make. (1 cent for 10 all the time for everyone sounds like a good start)

This was the best thread I found to put my comment down.

One major difference is, . . you didnt have to pay Shakira to put a picture of her ass on the cover of your CD!

I have joined CD and DVD Clubs, thru Columbia House etc. And you deff get a price break on stuff that is last years material. You get your "free" or discounted titles, then you agree to buy X more in the next 2 years. After it's all said and done, you take the total number you bought, devide by the total cost, and you see you saved a few bucks from your recliner

There are problems with shipping, wrong orders, etc, just like life in the real world, there are some risks.

I have had mostly good experiences with this, but as with anything, there are war stories.

Most of those CDs are ones that most people don't want, and the only way they can unload them is to sell them so cheap. If they were popular.."hot" albums, trust me, they wouldn't be selling them for a penny.

The music industry is to blaim for its mediocre sales figures. They've labelled people like me "sleepers" just because I'm out of the 10 to 19 year old age bracket. I'm the guy whose got the money to buy CDs, yet they only target a teenage audience with the garbage they produce. Although teenagers today have more money at their disposal than any generation before, that cash is nonetheless limited. If a kid has to decide whether to get Eminem's newest CD (who buys that anyway?) or the latest Playstation game, they'll buy the game and download the songs. Sure, it's stealing, but it could also be called balancing a budget.

P2P - because my local Tower Records isn't selling what I want.
