OK, I gotta question. Recently while I'm working on the computer a "box" pops up in the middle of the screen. I t appears to be making tests of the system, monitor, all kinds of things it appears to be checking out. It says exit in one little box but you can't click on it to make it go away. Sometimes it stays on the screen a few seconds, other times it stays a couple minutes until it disappears by itsself. What prompts this to pop up and is there a way to make it stay away (if that's possible or even adviseable). It's very annoying to say the least.

He could try to right click on it, see if it has an address, or if its just a piece of flash sh*t.
Im assuming he can correlate it to ZP or to an app.

Whatever this thing is that appears is not a popup. You can move your cursor and it will disppear behind the small display
until it gets to the other side and then appears again. It's not Messenger because I have that disabled. Could it be the monitor itsself running tests? If so, it just started doing it recently.

Not likely, go to blackvipers site, and configure your services and get rid of what you dont need.
Also, use Ad Aware, get the latest definitions with it too.
Then, get Spybot, and run it.
(unzip it to a folder where ever you chose, then right click the exe and pin it to the start menu)
Run your antivirus to look for infections and trojans too, I would go to the Trend Micro site and trust their appraisal

btw . . . just because it is most forground on your desktop doesnt mean its not a popup.

Take a screen shot so we can all have a look at it (Prt Scrn and paste it in paint).

if it appears to be monitoring ur system then its most likely a pop-up. the worst ad i have seen is that norton antivirus one with virus molecules floating round all of ur screen. sooo confused me.
btw could it be a recently downloaded activex control?

Since my last post the mysterious popup thing has'nt returned.
I do run Spybot religiously, and I ran Ad-Aware also. I have Norton anti-virus which is updated as of today. I ran Trojan Remover. The result is everything checked out OK. The computer runs just as fast as usual with no suspicious problems. If the popup thing returns I'll get a shot of it and show
what it looks like. I'll probly visit the blackviper site Krell mentioned when I have more time after work today. I really appreciate the responses to my situation.
