OK I gots sort of a strange problem and wanted to see if anyone else here had ever had something similar and if they could solve it....

Anyway....

I did a lot of changes at Christmas, I took out 2 drives (DVD-ROM and CD-RW) and replaced with a DVD-R/RW and that was fine but I needed another drive so I could copy....

so I got a new DVD-ROM drive and after i booted the second light on my system, the "Busy" light, the light that signals to me that the system is doing something, is always on, it never goes off.

Does anyone know how to get it back to normal?

Here are my specs and recent changes:

Windows XP Pro
HP Pavilion 1.6 GHZ
(2) - 80 GB HD's - Added one with no trouble at Christmas
Sony DVD Writer all in one DRU 500a i think its called, no problem installing,
and the problem - DVD-ROM 16x - Pacific Digital brand

Thanks!

Chris

i did the same with one of my connectors too. Try flipping it and see if that'll work....if it doesnt then try out a different cable.

I have 2 dumb questions, do you mean the HDD busy light?
And secondly, are the drives working?

be sure to try both sides too. don't just flip one side and try another cable. flip one if it doesnt work put it back how it originally was then try the other side. hope i helped!

AAaahhhhgggg

the RED Stripe goes toward the power cable, dont you guys have Google where you live?

Also, make sure that ONE is set to Master, and the OTHER is set to SLAVE.

Other than that, pray to the god of your choice.

ps: you may have put the floppy cable on reversed
