I know there's a lot of junk on my computer that doesn't need to be here, and I like to do the Disk Cleanup regularly to get rid of it, but I've been having a problem getting it to work recently. When I start it and select for the C Drive, it brings up the window (pic below) to start scanning, and it only goes as far as 3 lines. I've kept it scanning for a while, but it NEVER moves. I wasn't sure if there's a LOT more on here than I thought so it's taking longer, or if it's something else. I've used it before with no problems, this is the first it's happened.
Anyone know why this is happening? I'm on Win XP Home Ed. and if anyone needs more info, let me know.

Do a Check Disk Scan & Defrag...see if that helps.
Check Disk is in C Drine/Properties/Tools/Error-Checking.

I dont need more info jlee48, unless you want to tell what the 48 is for.
You have a slew of services running on your computer, and I highly suspect, Indexing Services.
In Explorer right click on a drive letter, and deselect Use Indexing for this Drive.
Go to :
http://blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
and remove all of the services that you do not need. Reboot. Then open Task Mgr, you should have maybe 14 - 16 services running, depending on whether or not you have antivirus with startup, or video drivers etc.
When you restart windows, any programs that are open, close them, then run scandisc again, and let it go, no matter how long it takes. If it is still a problem, I will look at your scandisc log.
hope this helps
