Hi
I've been looking everywhere and i can't seem to get my exact question answered...
I have a rapidshare premium account. I recently started seeing "downloadlimitexceeded" error message in their download manager program. Now I can't download anything! I thought
I paid for this! Does this only last 24hrs.?
I wanna know if anyone out there currently knows in plain English, what the daily and monthly download limits are, and/or how it all works.
Thanks

Looks like the premium RS accounts have download limits. Clearly a case of false advertising from their website: http://rapidshare.de/en/premium.html
"Download-Limits - No limits*"
* Get your own real PREMIUM-Account and we will always have a download-slot reserved for you!
Sole exception: Max. 3000 MB of downloads per day, but 20000 MB burst-downloads!
This means, we will always add 3000 MB to your traffic-account per day (max. 20000 MB).
If you empty your bucket every day, you can download 3000 MB per day.
If you don't download today, you can download 6000 MB tomorrow and so on.
So you're limited to 3 gigs a day depending on what you've downloaded in previous days apparently.

Sorry IceCube. Rapidshare.de has always been run separately and is closing for good in a couple of weeks. They have never had the same conditions.
Rapidshare.com has had the same download limits for about a year now and they do spell them out clearly in the conditions of use but who actually reads all that stuff? This is the important bit.
(2) RapidShare shall - for the duration of his/her premium membership - provide each user with web space in which the user can save his/her own files. Automatic file deletions according to section III (1) sentence 3 do not take place for premium users for as long as the data saved for a user does not exceed the total amount of 50 gigabytes. Furthermore, RapidShare offers its premium users the opportunity of downloading without a waiting period and at a maximum speed a data volume of 5 gigabytes (“Download-Traffic”) on a calendar day basis. RapidShare will increase each premium users’ Download-Traffic by 5 gigabytes per calendar day, regardless of a user’s consumption of Download-Traffic. The total amount of Download-Traffic cannot exceed 25 gigabytes per calendar day.
So you get 5 gig per day but you can bank your downloads credits up to 25 gig. You either tried to download more than 25 gig in one day or you used up your buffer 5 gig/day over the last 5 days.
I try to remember to start my downloads every night so I don't ever go over my limits but if you are a "heavy user" you might want to work around their Premium Happy Hours. Unfortunately it is 2-10 am their time.
We will now implement HappyHours for our Premium customers, so you can use our infrastructure in the best possible way. Currently, the HappyHours will be active from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Central European Time since that is the only time during which there is unused bandwidth left. During that time, only 10% of the data volume you download will be charged to your traffic balance. So if you download 300 Megabytes during HappyHours, only 30 Megabytes will be accounted. This applies also if you use RapidPoints or TrafficShare for your downloads.
I'm not sure what part of Canada you're in but if you Google CET time you can figure it out. I'm in Ontario so it is 6pm to 4am for me.
Oh... and you might want to make sure your ISP doesn't have monthly limits. A lot of Canadian companies quietly put caps on their pre-existing contracts. Acanac DSL is one I know is unlimited but their customer service sucks and you have to fight with Bell to make sure they aren't throttling your line (test it yourself because Bell lies).
Hope this helps you out (it's my first post here).
