View Full Version : klite 2.02/k++ 2.0 error: no topsearch.dll?

I just installed kazaa lite 2.02 with k++ 2.0. It works great, but everytime I start the computer, I get two error message boxes: "couldn't load library TopSearch.dll". It seems to be just an annoyance, but since I use Windows XP Home, I have enough annoyances already! Does anyone know how to fix this?

K++ isnt in your Kazaa Lite directory (normally C:\Program Files\Kazaa Lite).

Thanks for the reply. It seems to be there. I just looked and found a "kpp.exe". Is that what you mean?

You MUST start kpp.exe for k++ too work

OK. I double-clicked kpp.exe. What does it do? Will that take care of my topsearch.dll error message?

it should, kpp.exe will start and kazaa should open, if you get an error message agian, DROP kpp.exe over kazaa.exe and it should work

OK. I've tried the suggestions and no success. Does anyone know if I should d/l topsearch.dll and if so, which version (size?) should i get? Where it should live if I d/l it? Or is that a *bad* idea? What is topsearch.dll anyway? Spyware?

I did, at least, figure out why *two* error messages: I had manually placed kazaa lite in my startup directory some time ago, and then I'd chosen the "start automatically" option inside the program...

I was inadvertantly trying to start Kazaa a number of times (3) at startup.

Solution (in case anyone else has this problem):

De-select "Launch Kazaa Automatically" (Tools > Options...)

Another good idea is to check all the programs in startup folders and make sure Kazaa is in there no more than once.

As I said in the first post, at worst, it's just another annoyance :hole

Many thanks for the help, PornMaster and nasrules!
