I just downloaded the latest version of the Shareaza BETA 1.7( Shareaza1.7I I believe). I configured my firewall correctly for Shareaza to connect(never had any problems before and I connect via Broadband/cable). When I uninstalled Shareaza last time(Shareaza1.7G I believe), I completely removed it(registry keys and all). All my settings are correct such as in "View" > "Discovery" > and the cache is correct:

http://www.shareaza.com/cache/cache.aspx

Now, it simply will not connect. I have a screen shot. And will supply more info if someone requests. Thanks in advance.

somehow your getting blocked from getting hosts to connect too. Your firewall or something else might be blocking that connection. I dunno what if any web filter, script blocking or what you have that might be affecting it.

try a regular host cache try connecting to: connect1.bearshare.net

or

connect1.gnutellanet.com

see if that works.

Will do. I'll get back to ya.

EDIT: Its a no go on the regular host caches too. What is strange about that is I use other Gnutella clients such as limewire that I assume use these caches. No problems there.

Limewire uses the same methods different adresses. So it should work since the connection method from gnutella and "g2" appear to be the exact same and since it works for limewire it should be working for shareaza assuming that you didnt messed with the advanced settings, protocols and etc.. try connecting to the shareaza gweb cache and if that doesnt work then i guess you can try asking on their forums or just uninstall/reinstall and see if that doesnt anything.

Ya, i'll try an uninstall again. I don't think that will help however. I had no problems with Shareaza up until version 1.7G. And as I said, my firewall is configured correctly. I have no problems with any other P2P clients. Its all very strange.

When you go to discovery (F9) how many hosts do you see for gwebcache?
Phil.

Just

Thats it.

Hmm. strange, in mine it shows extra columns;
Hosts 162564 and accessed 11322..
I never have a problem connecting. Maybe you could try uninstall and fresh install. I just don't know what else to suggest,
Phil.

Well yes it has the extra columns. I thought you wanted to know what addresses were listed. Ah, screw it. I'll install once more, turn the firewall off, make sure i'm not blocking it in any way, and then give it one last try. If it doesn't work, screw it.

Didn't work. Oh well.

Dude, you only have one GwebCache in your discovery.. How about you check out and get some other services besides shareaza's G2... Than try it and it might work.

And i'm pretty sure those caches will work. Problem is, without G2, Gnutella isn't worth using as of now. I really have no clue why the G2 cache is being blocked.

Hmm... that seems odd but maybe if you are able to connect to couple ultrapeers first you will be able to connect to G2 hubs once they recognice your connection or w/e.. =) worth a try

Maybe when the source for G2 is released, there will be more G2 caches. Until then, no shareaza for me.

The new Shareaza 1.8 gives me the same problems. And it seems all the caches are being blocked(every one of them).

The Shareaza website is down right now, so it doesn't matter if your cache is broken or not.

BTW, do you use any proxies or firewalls? Shareaza borrows Windows' proxy settings, so they might be screwing up your connection.

Nope to all stated. I addressed all the obvious possibilities. I'm at a loss. Oh well, I guess I just have to stick with what works and sadly, Shareaza does not work.

well hopefully mike will release the g2 specs so gnucleus will be a g2 client and ken will be able to test it out.
