And this is a fight that was going on before and during the foundation of the US.

There were, of course, still academically elite atheist jerks, and then more subtle Deists, like Benjamin Franklin.

A lot of the great thinkers of the 1700's and 1800's were Deists, though I suspect indoctrination and fear of persecution was what held them off from atheism.

I can't say anything specific, other than it was just the feeling he passed off on camera. Come to think of it, the only two people that I didn't feel were acting like douchebags was the girl and Richard Dawkins. The reporter, the completely blind church staff, and the quotes from other students and faculty, all just came off to me as a bunch of douchebags. I'm not saying with confidence that they are in fact douchebags, but it's the feeling I got. Wrap that around the fact that there was a conflict at all and 20/20 covered it. I'm willing to believe that this whole thing is a result of not-douchebags becoming douchebags because the biggest douchebags acted like big-fucking-retarded-douchebags and then some other douchebags came in an watched them bicker like douchebags.
