For those of you with a series 8 nvidia card or newer,Nvidia's new drivers include the option of turning on 3D vision discover. Nvidia 3D vision discover uses anaglyph technology to create a 3d effect. This is not the same as the new 3d vision shutter glasses system, this is a red and cyan glasses system. Unlike the expensive shutter glasses system, all you you need are compatible glasses ( distributed with many movies) and a compatible video card. Turn on the system and you can play games in decent true 3d.

The effect is half decent with the cheap anaglyph glasses you get with movies, but looking at reviews Nvidia's glasses work better. Just ordered some glasses online that are supposed to remove the ghosting effect commonly found with these glasses. The only real issue I have with the system, is that the colors get all screwed up, making some games much harder to play, but the effect is pretty good, and for the price definitely worth a look. So if you have a compatible Nvidia card give it a try.
The glasses I bought are the Anaglyph Pro X Glasses, if anyone wants I can give feedback on the quality once I get them in the mail.
Edit: Apparently they have had this around for a long time, only Nvidia is rebranding it and re marketing it as a transition technology for people wanting to use their shutter glasses. If you have an older nvidia video card you will simply have to download separate drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dstereo_91.31
