Newbie re KaZaA lite update/upgrade

G'day from DownUnder, being new to this type of thing I have come to a (I hope) small problem. I have obviously installed KaZaA lite like today and have download as requested an update/upgrade basically straight away. Now the problem is that I tried to install the update/upgrade and a error keeps coming up "cannot continue have detected an _ _ _ _ _ .exe file already installed. Now in my humble experience I have never come across this before. Do I delete the current .exe file or uninstall the lot or .......??????? Assistance required please from a wonderer from DownUnder. Oh not that it should matter but I am running Win2000 pro

UNINSTALL KAZAA LITE AND RE-INSTALL IT THATS MY OPINION IF THAT DOESNT WORK THEN JUST PUT ANOTHER POST UP... :fire

What version of KaZaA do you have? If you have an older version like v1.7.2 & it tells you that there is an update/upgrade, do not upgrade to it as it just puts unnecessary, extra crap on your system. Like MusikBeatz said, uninstall whatever version of KaZaA you have & re-install the latest version here (http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm#kazaa202ec). Make sure you have the latest version which is KaZaA Lite 2.0.2 K++ v2.0. The error that pops up "cannot continue have detected an _ _ _ _ _ .exe file already installed" just means that the program is currently in use, which would be KaZaA. Exit out of KaZaA (right-click on the KaZaA icon to the bottom right side of your clock) & close KaZaA Lite.

G'day again, Ok thanks re the info here but to clear up a few things first I only downloaded KaZaA lite yesterday from A suggestion here and the version is 2.00.00 according to the information I have and the update/ upgrade arrived basically straight after I installed.
I have tried to install the upgrade I think it is and the same result as before which is
Component : Default Component
File Group : App Executables
File : C:/ Program Files KaZaA Lite\ KaZaA.exe
Error : Cannot create file when that file already exists

Now I am not running KaZaA lite at the time and I uninstalled the installed version ( A bit of Irish Humour helps)after the above result and tried to install the new download and sorry didn't write it down but it basically said that it could not installed without KaZaA desktop. Weird stuff to me, any suggestions please would be greatfully recieved,

Yes, DO NOT upgrade

Kazaa lite is a hacked version of kazaa, so kazaa naturaly doesnt like it, the version 2.02 (you have 2.0.0) was an attempt by kazaa to get rid of a few kazaa lite users. When you clicked the upgrade, it tried to upgrade kazaa, but you had kazaa lite installed, which is a different program, so it corrupted your kazaa lite with some kazaa files

There is a solution, uninstall kazaa lite (sorry, but its the only way), then reinstall it

When you reinstall, I recommend getting K++ 2.0 from www.k-lite.tk , trust me, it will be better for you in the longrun, and you won't see the upgrade notice every time you start kazaa

Next time you see the upgrade window, check back to ZP to see if there is a newer version of kazaa lite, then uninstall kazaa lite, and reinstall the new version, you shouldnt have a problem again

Okay navek_3, do this:

1) Uninstall KaZaA Lite 2.0.0
2) Click Here for the latest version of KaZaA Lite 2.0.2 K++ v2.0 (http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm#kazaa202ec)
3) Install it
4) Run it
5) Configure & set up KaZaA's settings the way you want it through Tools then click Options
6) Click on Help then click on About Kazaa Lite & report back what version you have now. It should say: Kazaa Lite - Version 2.0.2
It should also say: K++ version 2.00 by random nut
A loader for Kazaa v2.0.2

Thanks yet again. That was the bugger - happy chappy here. Now for some serious searching, it is abit of a task getting about but doing ok so far.
ps. Another thought "If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it a hostage situation/" lol
