so has anyone here tried out google wave yet? i'm pretty excited about it, it sounds like the next best thing since sliced bread. as a small businessman, i could see a lot of ways it can help me out...could i wave my products and invite my customers to review them? get them participating and keep me in mind the next time they need something ;) that'd be one way to use it!
just wanted to ask here since with half a million members, surely theres someone on ZP who's had a crack at it. i've seen the review on lifehacker, but they're basically ga ga on google, and alternate views would be nice.

I'm still trying to figure out what it is exactly.

it's basically a collaboration tool, and you can do all kinds of things with it. currently, people usually have to use multiple programs and services to collaborate over something, but i think google makes it possible to roll all this into one place.
currently, it's invite only just like gmail was, and it could turn out to be just as good too.

I would think that sites like facebook and linkedin would be very concerned. I see the immediate potential for small business but large companies will never adopt this (at least not for a while). I had never heard of it... the videos are interesting. The interface looks very cool. I would use it.
Perhaps we can trade wave invites here!!:silly:

i guess the general consensus is, wave is the way email would be, if email was created today. i can't wait for google to integrate this with gmail!

btw, i've been handing out wave invites to total strangers at LH like crazy, just realised that some of my peeps here may need a few too. i have 5 left for now, FOR THE REGULARS ONLY, don't go asking for one if you've just signed up. maybe we can start a ZP porn wave too ;)

I'm on it! It's kinda neat. Still trying to figure out how to use it to its full potential.

Wouldn't mind an invite, once I'm done studying I might play around with it a little bit.

I'm playing sudoku in it. By myself.

i've been using wave with some of my suppliers at work, it's far easier now to discuss marketing tools with those guys, instead of going back and forth via email (which almost seems messy now).
@MR: PM your email so i can forward the invite to you.

It would be cooler if people were actually there...

i think the problem is that it's invite only as of now, but seeing that there are so many ZP members on wave now, how about a ZP wave?
if there's anyone left without a wave account, don't feel shy to ask. it's not like you're asking for a torrent account. and believe me, wave or some iteration of it WILL replace email someday soon. this is a great chance to become an early adopter of new technology!

As far as I'm concerned you could simply call it a new email client. Sure it isn't "email" but sooner or later all email clients will follow some new standard that will be similar to wave.

exactly! it's like IMAP on steroids, if google somehow integrates gmail with this, as i'm sure they will, email as we know it will be dead. about time too, email hasn't really changed since it first came out what, 30, 40 years ago. seems odd it took this long :/

The reason I think it hasn't changed, is that it hasn't really needed to change. Its a letter in digital form, you can't really expand on that all that much in terms of people wanting to exchange mail. Or so I thought, Google has achieved to expand email by allowing all web content to be integrated into the body of an email, which is brilliant.
