View Full Version : WTF is wrong with Firefox 3.5.2?

I have been having terrible connection issues with this version of Firefox.
One out of every 6 pages or so will not load properly in Firefox (server not found). I have to hit the reload button to get it to load. It also seems slower than previous releases and some flash movies seem to stutter. I have never had a problem with Firefox and I love it but this shit is driving me to distraction. I have tried everything.... uninstall/reinstall, delete profile, load in safe mode, remove add on programs one at a time ect... nothing.
This is definitely a software problem. A search has reveled widespread bugs with this version and claims that there is a DNS problem with this version... (or is it just me?) Are you guys having any of these problems?

Maybe this is my problem too. I have had tons of connection problems myself but thought it was charter. Lots of problems with youtube vids though...

I've been using it but on a secondary computer, and it's been okay there, and I like the support for Open Video - that's pretty exciting.
If there's a bug as big as that they should send out an update soon. I'll have to check the Mozilla bug list to see what's up.

I have a problem w/ 3.5whatever not letting me use my Norton identity safe plug in.
Though, at first, found out that Norton was 2 versions behind. Got that updated, applied a hotfix, still nothing.
Gay.

I switched to Opera a while ago because I found FF slow and haven't looked back. I do like it better than Chrome, as it uses far less system resources. However, I do still occasionally use FF. I find it a bit faster since disabling the Microsoft .Net Framework Assistant.

since updating to 3.5.3 i've noticed a few quirks...for some reason my fire gestures addon keeps crashing, and even when i close fire fox now, it's process keeps running in the background. i have to manually kill the process in task manager. anyone have any info on this?

I solved a lot of my problems by updating Java and Flash. .. in case anyone cares...

I think FF has sucked since the second update about two years ago and don't know why I haven't tried Opera yet, except that perhaps it's for Macs? I don't remember.
And to El C, you know we care (and if they don't, oh well.)! http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l153/shell63/kisscx8.gif ~::*MUAH!*::~

Problems seem to be gone with 3.6. It only took them 8 months to fix.

El C, I'm telling you man; FF has sucked since v2 (if there ever was one, been so long I can't remember). Once they hit V3 and since, they have sucked.
Matter-of-fact, I am going to find another browser right now!
or switch to Linux.

from what i hear, no other major updates are scheduled this year, so they had to make sure they got this right. all doesn't seem well at mozilla, maybe they're shaken by chrome, i dunno, but 3.6 works well, and thats good enough for me...

maybe its because I'm always running a supercomputer, but I've never had a problem with FF. There is the occasional page compatibility problems, but IE tab will fix that.

It seems very fast now. 95% of pages are loading correctly.... so I'm happy. For a while there 1/3 of my pages were simply refusing to load on first try or loading incorrectly. 3.6 is a definite improvement.
@Sig : IE tab is incompatible with 3.6... I had to uninstall it.... go figure...

Now I'm confused. I thought I was running the latest version of FF, but I just hit the About button, and it says 3.5. It's constantly auto-updating, so is 3.6 in beta?

3.6 is wide release stable.

I wonder why I haven't been updated then. I havn't ever manually updated FF since I downloaded it in 2.0somethingish

i think FF auto-updater checks at set intervals instead of constantly scanning the horizon...same thing for your addons.
i'm happy with 3.6, just wish the developers for some of my favourite must have addons would hurry up and make them compatible with it.
