View Full Version : KaZaA Lite

I want to write something that will help new people in getting acquainted with KaZaA Lite. So I have decided to write this.

KaZaA Lite is a modified KaZaA that comes with all of the original properties of KaZaA , but takes out all of the spyware, adware, and annoying things that we all despise.

KaZaA Lite is good for downloading a lot of things.

Music - If you are looking for high quality music, KaZaA Lite can be an option. KaZaA Lite can find music files over 128Kpbs bitrate on Fasttrack only if you are using random nut's crack. If you are using an older version of KaZaA Lite then you will rarely find anything over 128Kbps because of the way it is designed.

Games - KaZaA Lite can be used to find a few games on the Fasttrack network, but in no way is it fully reliable. I would suggest when you are looking to download a full game on KaZaA Lite, that you first look at the amount of people that have the file. The more people that have the specific file, the better the chances that it is the game you are looking for. Also look at the specific file names of the multi sources. If many of them are different, then this is a tip off that it is not what you are looking for. I have downloaded a few games myself and all of them have not been what I was looking for.

Movies - I don't have too much experience in the movie department, but I will say that there are a lot of fake(misnamed) movies floating around. You can use the same method I mentioned in the Games section to determine if a movie is what it says it is. When you do find what you are looking for, a lot of the time it is somewhat good quality because it is probably a DVD rip.

www.fasttrackmovies.com

Software - I have found that KaZaA Lite is really good for finding software on the Fasttrack network. Just check the number of multi sources that a file has and compare it to the others. I have yet to come across a peice of software that isn't what it says it is. I would tell you to stay away from very small game or software cracks(most of the time registration keys) unless you are fully positive that it is what you want. I know that a lot of them are viruses or scripts to do malicious things to your computer.

I am going to pull what CCSDUDE wrote in another thread and relay it here also.

KaZaA Lite only searches for these specific files :

Images - Jpeg, Jpg, Bmp, Gif, ect..
Video - WMV, Avi, Mpeg, Mpg, Mov
Docs - Doc, Txt, Pdf, and a few others.
Music - Wav, Mp3, WMA, and a few others..
Software (and or games) - Exe, Zip, and Iso

-------------------------------------------------------

The newest thing that has come from KaZaA Lite has been the new cracks. These cracks allow you to connect up to 40 people and give you the ability to search as many times as you like. The crack also allows you to maintain a participation level of 1000 for quite some time.

-------------------------------------------------------

thanks 12345678910, i sort of use kazaa as a last resort, and that info helped me abit, even though ive been in the p2p world for awhile, kazaa hasn't always been my choice for filesharing, but i find it good for a few games, and some movies.

i agree with what u say about games, movies and software - k lite is great for software, verified movies at fasttrack central are worth the download but games are rarely complete and working.

new version of k++ with the included AutoSearchMore makes finding 192k mp3 a lot easier. i just type in artist and select At least 192kbs and leave it for a few mins to search. however if u have a really unusual group/artist that u like then this may not be the software to find it on.

just my 0.02p worth

gd post though 12345678910:fire

- directs all p2p noobies this way

If you are looking for high quality music, KaZaA Lite is not the way to go. KaZaA Lite rarely has anything over 128Kpbs bitrate

Well, by using specific parameters for your search, and then using Kazaa++ that has infinite search more and all that, then you can get high quality music from the fasttrack network,

This is true.

Did you read the whole paragraph?

Note : When putting the newest cracks for the software to use, it seems that more and more higher bitrate files are being found on the network.

True I guess, but it left no explaination why higher bitrate files are being found. They were there to begin with, its just now you can take your searches a lot further and find those "rare" high quality MP3s.

Still true, I should have read the whole paragraph.

this is a great FAQ i just wanna let you know that using the software section only the zips and isos that have exe added to the end of them....once you take the exe off of it it will show up in your misc type of folder but it is still used as a source as its still the same exact file of the one w/ exe at the end. also be careful a iso should be about 500mb or more and not over 700

kazaa sucks. The people who use it are idiots, the selection is third rate, the mp3 is low bit rate junk, the verified links are a joke compared to the ed2k verified links sites, fasttrack is full of viruses and teeming with fakes. why bother?

So you have a working copy of Project Fasttrack......mind sending me a copy?

Scottie, I'd like to give you a list of sig2dat sites to help you, but it seems as if it has been closed and removed

Scottie, I'd like to give you a list of sig2dat sites to help you, but it seems as if it has been closed and removed Project Fasttrack? I must apologize for the misunderstanding. I thought you were talking about the Fasttrack network as a whole. K-Lite works just fine for me.

You did nothing wrong, thats the way it is. Often I have to get a file from a few different sites before I find one that has sources.

I find peerweb with shareaza gets damn good results

Rainbow, thats what I thought you meant, I was just in an dickish mood

This is a thread about k-lite, so I'll keep it short

Search the forums, they are your friend, they will tell you all you need to know

I like Norton Corporate, but its not exactly "free" :)

Can viruses or trojan be spread over the Kazaa network I mean through the program (when not uploading or downloading?)

No.

You CAN get a virus if you have no firewall though, or if you download something. Sometimes just visiting a website, or looking at an email can also infect you.

Do a few things for me if you want to be "secure"
-Get a firewall. Windows XP comes with one, but you have to turn it on. Some cable/DSL routers have hardware firewalls. I'd recomend a nice free firewall such as ZoneAlarm
-Make sure your antivirus software is up to date. Do the subscription updates, if you cannot update and they ask you to pay....well, you should know how to get around that :)
-Be smart about what you download. Full lenght movies should not be 32kb .exe files.
-Make sure you have all available windows updates.
-Be smart
-Be smart
-And finally, be smart

Excellent advice phalkon30, "be smart".
Dont download key generators from kazaa, they are aften viruses by my experience.
AVG anti virus has saved me many times and is well worth the small amount of resources it uses. I had a virus that infects itself into .exe files on kazaa. That was particularly nasty as I had to do lots of manual work to delete it.

I was going to recommed somebody to this page, but I started reading it, and its VERY outdated.

12345678910, if you're still alive, would you mind taking a few minutes to update this page?

Updated for phalkon30. If I missed anything, let me know. Also, if anyone has a list of Sig2dat link sites they would like to add to the small list I have, either post them here or PM me.

ok about the blurb about firewalls go straight for sygate personal firewall its free and good i even block windows and still can function XP is way too chatty as i feared ndis why the does that thing always talking to the web??
xp firewall yup microsoft would NOT way not be the company i would trust with my security firstly i am sure they allow windows system files to comunicate at any time they want and as we ought to know this is a bad bad thing ie blaster and all the security leaks in windows (em that sygate blocks or prompts if they get "chatty"
zone has become too "idiot-proof" and .com like to be taken seriously

when was the last time you saw a sygate banner or pop-up advertisment ?

of course AVG antivirus that doesn't bog down on a fragmented 90% full 200 gig HD running win98(not SE lol) sold on it and had retail vers of norton mcaffee panda avast and that one that came with my mobo drivers???
and avg still rules the roost

ok rant mode terminated

It's all looking dated again. It needs updating every day at the moment.
We still need a run down on all the programs that have tried to fill the K++ vacuum.
lol Digispeed03. Is back from the time where you had to install it in two stages?
