The customized laptop I'm about to buy from HP is kinda expensive. I'm going to use it for work and school. Since it's very much a part of my everyday work life I'm going to want to do everything I can and look at every option available that'll help keep my laptop as secure as possible. Knowing about the potential security hole in LoJack, would you, today, go ahead and customize your new laptop with LoJack embedded in your BIOS firmware or would you say fuhgeddaboudit!!??

I'm still waiting for Adeona team to update their program so I can have some level of security on my laptop. All the need to do is run the notifications through a pop3 email server instead of whatever they were using before. http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/

I think it would be great if there was an audio alarm that could be activated by Wifi if your lap was stolen.
LIke some car stero sysytems, if the propery security code is not entered the audio would not shut off.
The Audio alarm should be routed through the audio amplifier software such as Soudblaster.
An alarm like a voice screaming "Help! This motherfucker stole me and is downloading kiddie porn!!" playing over and over and can't be shut off.
Can you imagine someone walking into a pawn shop with that alarm going of.

Not sure why there isn't an opensource alternative to this, it can't be all that hard to program. In fact it should be built into the browser. But now these duches probably have a patent on it preventing anyone with the same simple idea from releasing a similar product.
Edit: I stand corrected
