I was going through my files the other day and came across a folder named "FastTrackProfiles." I opened it up and found Kazaa and Zeropaid SH files. There was also a Zeropaid MS-Dos app and I have no idea what this is. My question I pose to you is what exactly is this? Does anyone else have this and is this supposed to be on my comp? I don't remember downloading this or anything but did this come from an older version of Kaza++?

what versions of various kazaa products have you installed on your computer? I dont mean what version you are using currently... I mean what versions you have installed without uninstalling...

that does indeed sound weird.

the zeropaid ms-dos app... it could be that it is just an executable without an icon attached to it. maybe the news streamer or something? I dont know how it came packaged or why it would be in a user profile though, not unless you put it there or it came from there

Who wants to tear that apart and see what they can see?

Well it's not a virus or spyware as I checked for both of those and that's nothing to worry about. I am using Kazaa Lite 2.02 w/ Kaza++ 2.0 and I DON'T have any other versions of Kazaa on my comp anywhere. Well I do have a setup file to 2.0, but that's all. The Ms-Dos thing doesn't work at all, I double clicked it and a black screen opened up w/ no text whatsoever and quickly shut down again.

Edit: When I have the time I'll put a screen capture up, hopefully sometime tonight if I get things going.

open it with notepad.... maybe its got some text in it that could help explain what it is.

also, opening it in notepad will allow you to find out what kind of file it really is. since what you described is usually what happens when you try to open a non-executable file as an executable one, i'd venture to say that it is most likely not really an exe

btw, how big is it?

The actual folder is 202 bytes so its VERY small. The Ms-Dos thing is 66 bytes. Hey wonderboy I did what you said w/ Notepad. This is what I got: 38C97CB5DE70A43890AAD8EF3401FA6582DDBB275FE541F101 55F9263E87DA86
(I opened up the Ms-Dos one. )

Errr.....I'm having trouble posting the screenshot. It appears that the file is too big and I lost some editing software so I gotta find a new to change between formats and get this to work. Hopefully I'll get it up for u guys.

at 66 bytes, its almost guaranteed not to be an exe.... the only thing i can imagine it could be is a shortcut..... which it could be....

I have the "FastTrackProfiles" directory on my comp too. I believe it was left over from "PTrack" that lets you create mutiple "UNs" in Kazaa.

Yea.. you must have downloaded Pseudotrack at one time and uninstalled it.

You know what that makes a lotta sense. I downloaded PTrack last week and I'm sure the proggie needs it for some reason. I actually haven't had much time to go into the program and check it out all that much. So thanks Ken. I guess I don't have to worry about this anymore. But now I'm gonna put it in Program Files>Ptrack folder. This shouldn't harm anything in any way.
